shock/strut cushion?

I'm going to replace my shocks and struts soon and I remeber someone not too long ago wrote about replacing a cushion with a "2mm ..." something. I tried doing a search but no luck. can anyone help? It was to give a quieter ride from road noise.

Anyone else remember this?

Thanks

These are what he's talking about. They are home made gaskets from exhaust headder gasket material. Nissan has these crappy paper gaskets (red on the right) that go between the upper strut mount and the chassie of your car. I made these thicker gaskets (grey on the left) and used them on my spring/strut install. The pictures show the fronts, there are also similar gaskets in the rear. They isolate the suspension from the chassie much better and I believe have given me a quieter ride.

Hmmm this is interesting indeed. Funny to note, I forgot to put one of these in but I dont have any noise problems yet. Next time I pull my struts I'll put these in.

Same here

I think one of mine cracked and blew away in the wind when I diassembled mine. I've had no problems with mine...no vibrations or noise. When I did my sister's 90 Accord, I don't even remember seeing those.
