MaxSpeed Before & After

Just installed these today by myself, took 5 hours and 4 beer. Install is pretty straight forward, I bought a cheap spring compressor yesterday and it worked great.

Thanks to Volkscafe and WizzaMax for the group buy, $85 plus shipping, great deal.

Probably is because the trunk and backseat are full of heavy stuff, but same stuff in car for both pics. Ya it probably would look better if it was on level ground but you told me too late.

Hey Cyrus, ride seems to be the same or maybe even a bit softer. I got the car full of stuff so gotta wait till I unload to try the handling out. I like it so far, no noise or anything.

I can't even remember the stock ride! I think it felt like a boat compared to the rocks I'm rolling on now.. But if the handling is better that's all that matters, and from what I've read, it's much better.

Welcome to the Maxspeed club Jime

I have had mine on for about four months with KYB AGX.

I really like the ride.

They look even better once they settle a bit.

Jim, are you running your stock struts? If you are, do you plan on changing them out anytime soon? I'm curious, because I got my Maxspeeds in the same GD, but I was going to wait until I got AGXs to put them on. I know sometimes the info on the forum isn't 100% accurate, but everyone seems to be in agreement that aftermarket springs should NOT be run w/ stock struts for long. Comments? Suggestions? Snide remarks?

Hey Jime,

Would you be interested in meeting up this weekend since a bunch of us are meeting to help me install the maxspeed?
See thread: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=129570
Your help would be great since you have already done the install.

I am running stock struts, not going to change till they give out, it not a big job now that I have done it once.

If its on Sunday I might be able to make it for a while, Saturday I have to help my daughter and son-in-law move to Barrie so will be tied up pretty much all day.

Jime - This maybe an old issue but I just ordered MaxSpeed Springs and I was just wondering what other necessary parts you have bought/needed to complete the installation of the springs, aside from the Struts/Shocks of course. Thanks.

giomontini I just replaced the strut bearings, one was broken and everyone says they should be replaced anyway. Luckily my wife went and got them for me after I had ripped everything apart.

looks great!

Exactly what drop are the Maxspeeds supposed to give?
Also, how is the ride quality SUPPOSED to be, compared to other springs available for the maxima?

and
is this group deal still on?
85$ is a hell of a deal!

Drop is 1.5"+ or -. Ride is no different than stock.

Group deal is over you will have to ask WizzaMax if there are going to be any more.

Jime, isn't that what wives are for (going to the parts store when the car is torn apart)? Don't those stock mud flaps make your car slower? J/K. Looks real good. Doesn't look slammed to the ground, but gets rid of some of the fender gap. I'll ponder doing something like that when my stuff wears out. BTW, I have the stock mud flaps and like them.

By the way, how much did your strut bearings cost & were they Nissan parts? Also, how much was the p.o.s spring compressor thingy? Thanks!

Strut Bearing was about $16 Nissan Parts and the spring compressor was $14, pretty reasonable.

Hi Jime,

Was wondering if your free July 20 or 21 and wouldn't mind helping me install the Maxspeed on stock struts. Ereet might be installing his SC during that weekend so he might not be available. This is one DIY project I don't want to do without someone who has already done the install there to guide (guess then it's not really DIY ) Their will be about a few other members who want to come and lend a hand or spectate. see http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=134914 and let me know if you can.

Thanks,

Richie

(My apologies if this is a duplicate, I think I made a mistake and typed up this post in other section of the forum, but i could have sworn I posted this already Deja-vu perhaps!?)

I love the ride and the fact that I can adjust the struts as needed. Handling is night and day. I have the above with a FSTB.

After a few months, my suspension has settled nicely and looks good. If you are in search of the slammed ride, do not go with this combo. If you are in search of better handling and a reduction of wheel gap. This is the way to go.

Handling has imporved 300% since the change........

Great price on the Bearings. Best I could find (and with 25% off list for maxima.org members) was $25
