I didnt think the 95/96s could be red/clear, so WTF?

If it can be done, I want to do it!

I was sitting in a restaurant and could not try to ask him out on the street

The only way to do it is buying clear tails, and painting the bottom half with candy apple red paint, or vans red tail light paint. (just a reminder, please search )

The he bought them professional painted. A .Org member by the screenname of DavidL used to sell them or $160+, but he does not anymore so your only option is to paint them (which you can do very well if you are skillfull and take your time).

Got mine from DavidL. They are painted from the inside, you have to take them apart. Contact a member called Pocketrocket, he seems to be the only one who can get DavidL to make them. He's about due for another goup deal.

If someone does the job good enough, then it really does seem like it came from the factory.

But then there's the problem of having a slightly whiter clear portion on the top (relative to the inner clear, which is more smoke colored). Has anyone found a solution for that?

The '95-'96 lights is actually orange plastic where is '97-'99 is clear plastic with an orange translucent plastic piece behind it.

Matching the paint color seems to be the hardest part. DavidL might be the best at matching it

so, maybe the best thing to do is wait for custommaxima to have theirs ready?

are theirs going to be painted or manufactured red and clear?

Im not sure but as of now im really not liking anything they make for aftermarket tail lights for the maximas, the best things are the red/clears...but it sucks becuase the red never matches, and then the white turn signel part dosent match eather, the idea is great, but untill sombody can make them match 100% i dont think there worth the money..

just my 2 cents

The red on my DavidL red/clear tail matches, any difference is unnoticed by the on looking public. I do agree that the clear section does not match 100%, but it is not noticed at a glance. I agree with Maxspeed in that the aftermarket tails that are out, are not my thing. A decent pair of red/clear tails doesn't look like they were just "thrown" on. They're actually unnoticable unless you are a Maxima enthusiast.

i just want a classy tail light section without yellow

i cant stand the ricey altezzas and cant (the way i want to) do red\clears.

somebody needs to come up with some really nice aftermarket lights that are not ricey

If you check out www.nopi.com, you should be able to find Red/Clears for about $150.

Yes; most people pull their's apart first, then paint them from the back of the lens.
