96 ECU in a 98, whats the trick?

Does anyone know what the trick is to get a 96 ECU to work in a 98 so the check engine light stops coming on? I get a rear O2 sensor code and another one, I forgot what it was, EVAP I think. I remember hearing that you need to run a 96 O2 sensor or somthing, is their a special way to wire it in?

Any help is appreciated!

96's have a small o2 sensor in the main cat, I think 97+ have the o2 sensor right behind the cat. BTW does your ODO even work with the new ECU? Or is it just controled by the speed sensor

i talked briefly to chebosto about it. he said to use an oxygen sensor signal replicator or something to that affect. i don't know exactly what that is. i'm thinking about the Gforce ECU and i'm trying to figure it out also. try searching if you have not already done so.

oxygen sensor replicator? I'm not sure that's the correct term but i've seen it used on Mustangs with h-pipe. Instead of running a oxygen sensor, you plug this instead, it sort of fool the computer. My friend said he got it from summit racing.

We'll my 98' has a rear O2 sensor but the readings on my AF meter are wacked with the 96' ECU installed so I think the wiring and ECU pin locations are different.

The digital odometer seems to be working fine

I'm runing a G-Force modified ECU with the normally asperated program. Since I have the J&S I can run very advanced timing with boost. The Butt-o-jet dyno does feel a little more power.

Because the ECU does not control the odo. The reading is stored in the meter permananetly.
