Why do idots race like this?

I was on my way back from today's NW meet, over the I-90 Floating Bridge, which has no shoulder, no cops, and a long tunnel on each side.

An Eclipse tried to pass me. I 3/4 throttled it to keep up with him, just for fun.

He then floored it. So did I. He then dropped in behind me, and we passed a slower car.

Then, just before the tunnel, He goes back into the lane on my left. I hear his engine wrap out. I floor it. I blasted him without any trouble, and half way through the tunnel I'm a good 20 car lengths ahead of him.

I flash my hazards, race over, and decide to drive mellow again.

30 seconds later, he pulls up next to me. I give him the thumbs up.
He then drops back a little, floors it, and passes me. I let him go.

he then gets 8 or 10 lengths ahead of me and flashes HIS hazards?!

WTF? Why do idiots do this?

I wonder maybe he turned on his hazards to get back at you doing the same to him?

That's why when I race and beat someone, I just leave it at that. I don't turn on my hazards because I know there are sore losers out there and will try to "get back" at me.

Or you could have just let him pass you?

You'd think he would have heard the whine of the V1 and been smarter than that.

Early 90s Eclipses are alot slower than I used to think they were. iwasted one at the track by a full second with no SC, my ICE in the trunk, and 18's.

I literally pulled 20 car lengths on this guy when we went the first time.

I'd be embarrassed to "get back" at a car that beat me that bad.

Well, like I said, you know there'll be some sore losers out there.

If the Eclipse wasn't turboed, it would be no contest whatsoever. I think you might have ran into an NA Eclipse.

The only reason I didn't do that was I was about to hit Downtown Seattle, and there's alot of traffic. And the danger of cops, of course.

My habit of occasionally racing on the freeways is stupid enough, much less putting others in danger.

Or maybe it's just that at 267fwhp, my car still feels slow to me.....

I wish I could figure out where that 3PSI is going....*sigh*

I raced a Mercedes late one night thru the same tunnel... bought 10 car lengths or so I must have put on him... Come up to the turn after the tunnel, slow down to about 90 for the turn, guy in the mercedes keeps on it, passes me, and procedes to slide across 2 lanes and nearly smacks the wall... but he sure passed me...

Must be Eclipse drivers, I was cruising at about 80 MPH (very open rurul interstate highway) and saw a newer Eclipse coming up on me fairly quickly, we ended up next to each other at about 80, we both punced it, I put a couple of cars on him up to 120ish, we had to back off because we came up on some slower traffic, and there was a more congested area coming up. I decided to lay off but he blasted through weaving in and out of traffic driving like an A-hole.

How did you expect he was supposed to win without pulling his last stunt?

I wouldn't get all bent out of shape over it. It's not like there's some omnipotent street racing god out there chalking up points for anyone who passes a car and flashes their hazards. Let him be a fly-by'er if he wants to. Laugh at him, even
