I did...check some of my previous posts on HOME DEPOT GRILL and my SN (FLO_BOY)...there's some pics, and you'll see that I cut a small square to accomodate.

hope this helps...

I did mine without the cutout. Check my sigpic. With the hood popped you still have enough space to reach in with your fingers.

I didn't cut the square out of mine...
Like BlackCat said, there's still plenty of space... Just make sure you warn the guy who's doing your car in advance... don't want him to cut his fingers!!!

I used some door edge plastic to protect my fingers from the sharp edges.

if you search for "home depot grill" and my SN (FLO_BOY) you'll see
pics of the zip ties...they attach right to the existing grill.

Also, I've had my grill for months, with numerous car washes, and the
grill is rigid enough to maintain its shape.

hope this helps.

Yep the grille is quite rigid. The only way to bend the mesh is to press your thumb hard into it and it will flex and stay that way.

FLO_BOY, did you leave a gap in the upper grille above the center bar or is that just my eyes playing tricks on me?

actually, no....BUT, the curvature of the stock grill prevented me
from keeping the grill right up next to the middle bar...personally,
I don't really like the gap, but, since the gap is straight, I left it.

If you have any suggestions for me, please send 'em over!

best,

Did you curve it around?
I was gonna try, but when you bend for the curve, the edges got screwey...

Thanks for the pic -- it IS possible

Strategic placing of the zip ties at the right places will make the bends stay close to the center bar. I did some hole drilling to make it happen around the emblem. I also have like an extra 6/8ths of material all around the edge and then I did a 90 degree or so bend of that 6/8ths to bring it close to the plastic grille. This gives it my "patented" "bulge" look.

if its not too much trouble, can you post a pic of those drilled holes?

if not, no worries...I'm not going to make a new grill any time soon...

thanks!

check my homepage for a pic.

another option other than zip-ties is to use thin metal wire and thats what i used and it came out great.

also i suggest to put on a couple of coats of clear coat paint to prevent rust in the future.

You won't know until you try it out first and see how it looks. You may not need to do anything at all.
