Most 95-96 will have more wear and tear and mileage simply because they're older, and probably offsetting this difference in speed.
There is no proof. I ran 15.6 in the 1/4 all stock. My Max is a 97 GXE auto. If there was a race between both, the race could go either way.

Just so were clear here, the VQ35 as I discribed above will "bolt right up".

The other stuff is BS

What's wrong with my answer? You don't like it?

I guess I should explain my flippant answers, should I? After all, I'm here to set an example.

If you do a search for threads pertaining to this issue, you'll see two types of threads.

One starting off exactly like this one: asking how much, where to get it done and "Will it work?"

And there are those started by members like Mr Cranman that go into detail about how he thinks it can be done.

I sort of disagree with Ben about the BS and misinformation in this thread. There is good information, but you had to wade through the BS to find it.

If you have to ask, "Will this work, how much does it cost and where can I get it done?" then one hasn't done his homework and will never ever accomplish the task. And then a member who has done their homework comes along and says, "It's very possible." and the newb gets this gleam in his eye. I'm just waiting for the day when a newb comes back on the board and says, "Well, I took my old motor out and bought a used 2k2 tranny/engine ... and it doesn't work! Help!!! What did I do wrong?!!? I spent $XXXX and it's not working right! HEEEEELLLLLPPPPP!!!!!"

The Maxima isn't like the Hondas where motor swaps are a dime a dozen.

If someone is serious about doing a 2k2 tranny or engine swap, they would do research first, then ask questions, not the other way around. Seems like when they ask questions first, they just want to hear, "Sure, it's possible."

Even if the VQ35DE will bolt right up to the 4th gen tranny and intake and exhaust manifolds, there are still going to be differences that cannot be overcome easily. One major example is the CVTC intake sprockets on the 3.5, which the 4th gen ECU has no ECU control outputs nor the wiring harness to operate these devices. I suppose one could simply not wire the CVTCs up and leave them unoperable, but these devices are responsible for some of the low and high-rpm torque curve flatening.

I would be very surprised if a lot of the other sensors were not compatible between the 3.5 and 3.0, meaning that you can't just stick the 3.0 sensor onto the 3.5 and you can't use the 3.5 sensor with the 4th gen wiring connectors.

This may be a relatively straightforward swap for an experienced, technically knowledgable mechanic, but 99.9999% of us are not (myself included), so I would definitely say that

THIS IS NOT A DIRECT MOTOR SWAP.

WOW so I am in the 0.0001 percentile!

Kev the only sensor that I am unsure about is the camshaft POS sensor. On a 4g its right where the CVT hump is. I havent studied it enough to know if it will be a problem or not. Worse case you could swap over the timing chain assembly parts from a 3.0L. Every thing else looks to be cake, IMHO. I have spent many hours looking hours looking at the FSM's of both cars, and am 99.9999% sure it will work. However, until it is done it is speculation.
