Ignition system

Greetings, I have a question regarding spark plug wires. I recently purchased a 96 GLE w/AT. I noticed NOPI has NGK spark plug wires for sale. Howver when I take a look under my hood (and other Maxima pictures) I notice that the wires are all wraped in this nasty black tape leading to god know's where. I know that the 95's and up seized having a distributor but I would still like to do up my ignition system. Can anyone help? Thanks.

You dont have spark plug wires.

You have 6 individual coils, one attached to each spark plug.

Plug Wires

Our cars do not have spark plug wires like most other cars. Each plug has it's own small coil integrated into the plug boot. Only low voltage signals go to each coil. Hence you never have to replce plug wires. Aren't we lucky?????

Interesting, perhaps you can advise on how I would fully modify my ignition system? For example on most Hondas you would simply replace spark plugs with peformance ones such as NGK or DENSO. Then you would buy peformance spark plug wires that lead to a peformance distributor. Leaving you with a couple extra horses and a car that hardly bog's of the take of. Please advise, thanks.

There arent really any ignition upgrades. Any aftermarket plugs tend to suck in our cars, so stick with OEM. HKS makes the TwinPower ignition for us as well, but that doesnt seem to do anything either.

Be happy we have a good ignition system from the factory...and a timing chain instead of a belt

You cant follow the common Honda mods for a Max...we are just so much better than that...
