help me on replacing my fuel filter!

hey everyone, i was told by a fellow maxima owner that i should change my fuel filter, so i went to auto zone and bought one. i opened the box, and it states that i "should have this done by a trained proffesional" because the fuel filter has tremndous pressure inside of it. so my question is, do i have to have it de-presureized before i change it? and is there anything else i should know before doing this? thanks alot guys.

I recently had mine replaced for me...I tried to DYI (do it myself) but it was a b****. Have fun or pay someone. BTW getting access underneth the car helps. One more thing make sure you take the gas cap off to relieve the pressure on the fuel filter.

Re: help me on replacing my fuel filter!

I did my myself and it wasn't easy getting to it or taking off the hoses but after hour of scraping my knuckles and fingers I got it off and then put it on just put a rag or something like that underneath the filter and wear gloves cuz when the fuel spills on your scraped hands it burns like hell It not hard it just takes a long time to do it just be patient and pull on the hoses kinda hard.

While installing my SC, ebmorgan figured out that a Panel Popping tool works AWESOME for removing fuel lines.

As an example, I did one line by hand and it took 15 minutes of cursing and scraping my knuckles.

ebmorgan got th next line off with the panel popper in 10 seconds.

Jut remember to take the Fuel Pump fuse out and crank the engine 3 or 4 times, like the FAQ says. This releases fuel pressure in the lines.

It's also best to do it after the car has been sitting overnight.
