Not everyone has Daddy to pay for everything. So some of us would rather do it ourselves. And some of us enjoy working on our cars. I put my own clutch in. Could have paid someone to do it, but had more fun and learned more doing it myself.
You get it now?

I used a box cutter, just score it a buch of times and use a file to even off the edges. It's not that difficult. You don't need a dremel tool or anything special. It may just take a little exta time. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can. Also I used a little silicone to make sure I got a good seal when putting them back together.
I know, my sig does not show my clear tails. Need new pics.

$190 is a lot of dough man. We're not talking about $12 tire rotations. Do I think its worth $12 bucks to have a shop rotate the tires for me? Yes. Do I think the red/clear tails are worth $190? Yes, I really do. They are my fav mods of all time and I'd pay $190 for em, but I can't, because I need the money for other stuff.
Actually, I think $190 is a bit too much. $150 sounds good.

If you look in the group deals forum there are members who will clear your tails and send them back to you for less than $190 but you are without them for a few days. Another .org member is selling the pre-cut light cover separatly for you to put in yourself for $25
I wouldn't mind paying the $190 for factory style clear tails but for tails that just have a piece of floresent light cover in them I would rather do it myself. $190 is a good chunk of the JDM variable intake manifold

If you have any patience and desire to make your car look good, you can do this mod for around $5.
Just take a sharp exacto knife, or even buy one of the special flourescent light cover cutters. What worked for me was heating the blade up, and then it would literally melt through the plastic and then you just sand it down and youre all set.
To separate the lens from the housing I put it into the oven for 10 mins at 215 degrees. Slowly but surely the lens came out. This really is not a hard mod, but takes a lot of patience.

I am the one that has two group deals going on right now for the red/clear tails. Here is the link to the first one which I do everything for you, you send me lights and I send them back, all over-night shipping for $100 http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=133349 . And this is the one that more people seem interested in where we just send you the pre-cut pieces for $25 plus shipping http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=133715 .
Thanks,
Tom

hey now.. Ant and JDawg.. no need to get heated in here..
hey i am all for a guy doing a mod for himself.. it feels good when you do a mod for yourself..
but as simple as tails look to do.. they are not.. they require great patience..
just like some people wouldn't attempt a y pipe install.. and some people would.. some mods are not for everyone.. and as this thread clearly shows.. not everyone is going to be able to do it.. why can i do them so well? because i f#cked up enough of them to know where to do what and how to do it.. i have it down to a science i know how long i heat it up for.. where to pull .. and how to pull it..
with tails.. if you heat them up too much.. they melt.. and if you don't heat them up enough.. they crack.. i am not scaring anyone
but this mod is not for everyone.. thats why most people buy from me.. and then attempt to do their own tails after.. that way they alreayd have one done and nothing to worry about..
lots of people can pull an engine down.. doesn't mean they can do tails.. and not everyone has the patience to sit down and f#ck up enough tails to get it perfect..
