Black 1998 Maxima SE Door Dents and shifting question.

Hi All,
Was wondering if anyone had success in fixing some minor dents/dinks on the side of their doors. I have considered taking off the interior and banging the dinks out, but would prefer not to open the door up. Your suggestions are appreciated.

Another thing I have noticed is that sometimes the shifting handle is a little tight from park. This is a 98 SE Auto. There is a slight incline on my driveway so I have noticed that if I put a little more weight on the brakes then it is easier to shift. Is this a problem that you guys have experienced also? I hope I am not damaging the transmission. Even with the brakes floored it is hard ot shift sometimes. I know that there is a bulletin out there regarding difficulty in shifting on the 98 model.

Thanks for time all.

Next time before putting it into park, put the e-brake on and then shift into park. This will take the pressure off the park pawl in the trans.........get into the habit.

On the parking situation you can either do it as has already been explained or just remember to keep holding the regular brake down, shift to park, then, while continuing to keep your foot on the break, put the emergency brake on (and I've noticed that if I don't pull up sufficiently on the emerg.brake I still have trouble shifting out of park so make sure you engage the emerg.brake properly.)

And on the dent, ding situation, I recently had both a major dent and a ding repaired. The former was done by literally pounding it out after pulling the lining back- no cost (this only works for the rear and front "quarter panels" but not the doors so well), and the ding was done by paintless dent removal (PDR) for $99.
