power loss, uneven power band

power loss, uneven power band

i have a 96 se 5spd 85K lately i have expierienced power loss (most noticible at low rpm) and an uneven power band, also the car died a couple of times at idle.

last tune up was done last summer at 60K.

any suggestions as to the curprit?

are you throwing any error codes? ....also, clean out your TB

Have you changed your fuel filter lately. My Max was acting really crazy. Like staling at idle, or cutting out as you turned a corner and going no where between 1000-2500 rpm's. After 2500rpm's it would run great. Change the filter, it's only $15 or so!

where do i go to clean the throttle body

i'm in the chicago area

do the fuel filter and clean out your throttle body as well....

ya thats what i followed, and the results were great....also, a tip...if you let some of the TB cleaner drip onto the hoses underneath the TB, dont worry about it...itll stain it yellow, and looks like its corroding it....just get some water on you hands, and smudge it out ....thought my lines were going to evaporate to dust when that happened
