Blower Fan Issues

I need some help on the following issues I am having with the blower fan for the heat and AC.

1) The fan is running on high all the time and the controls will not turn it off or lower the speed of the fan. I am able to change the temperature, go from auto to economy and change the direction of the air (i.e. feet, chest area and defrost).

I read something in regards to a relay switch being in the "on" or "high" position and it has to be replaced. Is this the solution? Where is it located? How much does it cost.

2) The fan also makes a loud noise as it is running. It sounds as if it is "wobbling". I took it apart to determine if there was dust buildup, but it did not appear enough to make it wobble (I cleaned it anyway).

I did notice that the base of the fan (the housing for the motor) seemed almost warped. The seperation between the bottom of the fan and the motor housing was not equidistant from each other all the way around.

Would this be the reason for my problem? Can this be fixed? I've seen the motor costing $160+ to replace. Any used ones around?

I'm going to try to post pics of what I saw last night, I hope they turn out okay.

These are close ups of the fan. Can you see a slight curve in the black colored base?

There also appears to be a crack in the fan but it does not go all the way through. How did this happen?

Here is an overall picture of the whole area with the glove box out of the way. Can anyone point out the relay switch?

Thanks!!

I have a 2002 Maxima

1) when i turn the dials for turning on the ac or heat the fan doesnt turn on. All positions it stays off. It just happened all of a sudden really, before that it was working perfectly. Anyone know what could be wrong?

2) My left side steering wheel controls dont work. The volume, and all the ones on the left side of the steering wheel dont work, i have an aftermarket head unit so i dont expect the volume to work, but id like the mode thing to work so i could see the mpg and dte etc. The right side (cruise control) works perfectly. Anyone know what could be wrong here?

Sorry for posting like this, i wasnt able to start a new thread (im a noob), thanks for any help you guys can give!!

/\/\ better put on your flame suit...

1) Blower might be dead, or it could be a fuse. You should check them if it worked fine for a long while then stopped working
2) Not sure, they do make adapters that allow you to use the steering wheel controls to control an aftermarket stereo. Check crutchfield. Not sure why the mode button doesn't work. Try searching the 5th gen forum (see below)

This thread was in the wrong section to begin with. This forum is for selling fifth gen stuff. You should go here:

http://forums.maxima.org/forumdisplay.php?f=7
and
post in the noob thread: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=365289

Good luck, hope you get it worked out!

use the search button, the blower issue is very common and has been discussed many, many times. Just replace it.
