I'm looking for an electrical/computer component that unfortunately most salvage yards do not deal with, as they only concern theirselves with mechanical parts.

The part I need is called a Smart Entrance Control Unit, and is located directly underneath the steering column on the right. I have attached some diagrams and some crappy cell-phone pics that show what I'm talking about.

The part is white in color, and has 3 connections as shown in the 5th pic. If anyone knows of somewhere else I can look as well, please let me know.

does it have to be an 01 AE? is there any part numbers on it?

 

Without taking any plastic off the dash to take the unit out, I climbed under there and found this number stamped in ink on the side of it:
28595 4Y900
0929

I also have a printout of the part from the dealer, and amogst the diagrams that are on the page, it looks like the number on there is:
28596N

I don't really have time tonight to take it all apart, but if these numbers get me nowhere, I'll probably be able to do it tomorrow or Sunday....

 

Yeah I called the dealer, and the 285954Y900 number is good.
Their system now says 285952Y900, but they said that both numbers are still good.

If anyone is parting out a Max, or knows where I can get one of these, let me know.

What does that unit do?

 

maybe its for the keyless entry system

 

It's the computer that controls the electronics & power components that are involved with your remote, interior lights & such, and entering & exiting the vehicle, etc.

For example, I have a part burned out on the board, and my trunk doesn't pop with the remote. When I get into & out of the vehicle, the dome light doesn't turn on. And this one is funny......When the girlfriend is putting on her makeup while i'm driving, the power drawn by the mirror lights must interfere with the area of the board that tells me my door is open. So I randomly get the "Door Ajar" symbol when the vanity mirror is open.

If you read the FSM electronics section, there is a lot of things connected back to the board......
