I have the factory Navigation unit and matching Bose head unit from my 02 Maxima. I no longer have a use for it since I traded my Maxima.

Unless you already have the factory nav installed you'll need all the wiring to go with it in order for it to work.

I don't know. Your GLE already has the auto climate control which this unit controls and the Bose speakers to go with the Bose head unit that this unit connects to for the voice directions.

Yeah... i have auto climate control but this would be removed. The radio would be in its place. I am just not sure how much work would have to go into making this actually work properly

If you don't already have a NAV it's not worth it in my opinion but if you want all the wiring nightmares you'll also need to climate control module that the NAV unit talks to. It uses the same connectors that the auto climate control talks to.

When I had my 02 SE 6spd with navigation I purchased a spare system off of ebay. The climate control system is integrated with the nav system, if your nav system goes out you will lose your AC, defrost, heat, and the navigation head unit costs over $3,000 from Nissan. I had planned to keep my maxima a long time but traded it in on a Speed6 so I don't need this anymore. I am selling it for what I paid which is very cheap considering what you would have to pay to get a new one.
I loved having the integrated nav system but I don't know how much trouble it would be to wire this in a maxima that did not come with navigation.

The map data comes on CD. The screen folds down to access the CD slot. You can remove the map CD and put in a music CD to play but you can't use the navigation with the map CD out. My Maxima came with a CD changer in the trunk that the Bose controls so I mainly used that.

$375 and you get the Bose unit FREE
This thread has been dead and the system has been sitting in my closet for a long time. Here is the new thread that I just started a couple of days ago.

It is difficult to install OEM Nav on cars without it. The autoclimate control isn't really built-in the Nav unit. The Nav unit only "controls" it by sending and receiving signals to/from an "AMP" module at the foot of the center panel. That "AMP" module connects directly to fan motors, fan routers, temp controls, and sensors to respond to changes and achieve desired temperatures. Between the Nav unit and the "AMP" unit, there are also 3 advanced communication wires: Tx, Rx, Clkx. They are the Nissan CAN BUS wires which has to do with other functions of the instrument panel and memory seat controls. All of these would have to be purchased and somehow retrofitted into the car before you can put in the NAV unit. Aside from all that, I'm not sure if you'd have to pull out wires for speed sensors, Ebrake sensors, and Dimming controls for the Nav unit.
On Maximas already with Autoclimate controls, the "AMP" module is already built-in the climate controller, if you remove that controller to install the tape deck of the Nav bundle, then you'd lose your climate control that way, unless you are able to obtain the OEM Nav "AMP" module, figure out the wires, and got it all prepped.
I have a 02 with OEM Nav in it, it was really difficult, but I successfully converted from OEM Nav to a Pioneer AVIC-D3. Tons of better features and MP3 capability.
Hope I'm clearing things up.

Its an old thread but I have a question: There are no fan up/down buttons on the maxima navigation unit. For those of us with auto climate control but no nav, we have up/down buttons for the fan. How do you adjust the fan without those buttons?

The nav unit has auto climate built-in, if you were able to connect the wiring. Push the AUTO button on the top right of the nav unit; a screen display will appear for fan speed. Touch the screen above the fan graphic (up arrow) to increase fan speed and below the fan graphic (down arrow) to decrease fan speed. There are 4 settings.
Additionally, there is an auto temp ****, much like the non-nav ****, only it's to the right of the screen. Hope this helps.
