New rotors just put on...what a difference

Just had the gas station down the street from my folks put on new front rotors and pads up front and pads for the rear.

What a flipping difference!! Gone is the shake that makes it feel like my front end is going to come flying apart at the seams!

Bendix rotors and pads....

Total cost was about 450 bucks...probably a bit high(then again given that Max rotors go for close to 100 apiece maybe not too bad) and this guy knows his stuff. I was amazed at how smooth and awesome the brakes are now....I'm no longer afraid to hit the brakes while doing over 50.

Just as sort of a tidbit...Tim W has said it before and this guy sort of backs up with what Tim says.....he said never, ever use an air gun to tighten the lug nuts...always hand tighten so there is no over tourqing..I dunno...sounds feasible as I've heard that one of the reasons that so many people have warped rotors is due to over torquing.

Anyhoo...there is life after Nissan rotors....for now

I usually go to discount tires for tire rotation and balancing. They always hand torque, and have the tech sign the work order and the amount of ft/lbs that he tightened them to. Most gas stations/brake/muffler places have no clue!

I do my own Rot/Bal at my buddy’s shop. He has these extensions for his impact wrenches, different ones for different makes (color-coded), that limit the torque that can be applied. They flex when they reach their ft/lb. setting. He got them to eliminate that very problem with one of his techs. The nice thing about them is you also have a place on the extension to hold the socket so you don't nick your rims.

What type of rotors did you get? cross drilled? slotted?

Lol so right Tim.....lots of dust from the Bendix pads though, especially on the rear...moreso than the Nissan OEM's...but I'll live with that given the beyond belief superhuman stopping power I now have....ok I'm getting loopy now but the brakes do feel great

Dont trust those. This shop assured me those would work. I said fine.. they were only re-balancing rim.

I'm a bit obsessive-compulsive I guess, and I rechecked those lugs. They were WAYYY over torqued (I'd guess around 100, instead of 85).. I stood right there and watched, he used the right one. I guess they were not calibrated properly or had gotten dropped. who knows. I'd just watch those.
