Auto tranny pros inside please!

Ok here is the scoop. I just replaced the tranny at 40k miles for the slipping 1-2 2-3 TSB. Everything was great till now. Regardless of the car being hot or cold, when I start the car and put it into reverse to pull out of the parking space it goes nowhere till I rev it a bit then it starts to move the car and is ok till next time I turn it off. Happends everytime now. I checked the fluid and is ok, but I don't know whats wrong.

Anyone??

Ok. Can you handle the truth? Sounds like you are screwed and will need to take it to the dealership or to a transmission specialist.

The ESM hints at the control or solenoid valves are most likely causing the problem, but it could be just a cable adjustment. These are probably the parts the TSB was messin' with.

In summary, nobody here has the expertise to diagnose an auto transmission, due to its complexity, and your best bet would be to take it to the dealership, pay for them to inspect it, and tell you point blank what exactly the problem is.

sounds like good advise. the only way to get a straight answer from them is to pay for their services. just make sure you take it to a dealer with a decent mechanic so it doesn't get worse.
the flip side is, if it turns out to be related to the tsb work, you should be covered under warranty and be refunded your up front cost of inspection.

I have THIS SAME PROBLEM!!

Hi,

Ive noticed this problem with my April 2001 mafg. maxima too. It has 21,000 miles and in the mornings it just kind of rolls back out of gear then catches (the catching is unnoticable though) Let me know what you do/think we can do.

P.S. Can you fill me in on your tranny replacement issues and process and ease of convincing etc.?

Thanks.

Well this tranny has about 15k on it. It is a replacement from Nissan because they found metal shavings in the original tranny. It no longer slips but now I have no drive for a few seconds when I put it into gear after sitting for an hour or so....even first thing in the morning.

I guess I'll go to the dealership and have them tell me whats wrong. I'll let you know.

Any other suggestions?

This time insist on having a brand-new transmission, and contact Nissan NA and open up a case file, just so you are on the record....
