G35 intake in a 2002 Maxima

I've been in awe lately of how simple and efficient the OEM G35 intake system is and was wondering if, with some custom fabrication, if could be installed in a 2002 Maxima. For those of you that haven't seen it, it has a large 'mouth' drawing air in directly from the hood opening and a side duct drawing in a direct charge of air from the hood opening as well. Just about 8" past the air ducts, there is a flat panel OEM filter (which is clearly visible due to the size of the air ducts). From the filter back, on the G35 at least, its a straight shot to the intake manifold. From driving the G35 it seems that it has a pleasing yet refined growl under WOT as opposed to the stock Maximas dull lifeless sound under WOT. So, my question is, how difficult would it be to custom fabricate some PCV plastic to extend where the G35 intake stops to reach the manifold on the Maxima? I'm really intersted in this idea because it would seeminly have the benefit of an aftermarket intake (no kinks or resonators) combined with the nice quality sound of something OEM.

It's going to be diffucult enough just to get any MAFS/Filter combo on to a G intake manifold. Your not going to be able to extend anything, if anything your going to have to shrink something.

BTW it's a bad idea to use PCV plastic on your intake. From what I heard the plastic can get hot and shoot weird chemical stuff into your air stream.

Heres a link to a pic: http://g35driver.com/rides/spec/pix/...1026436320.jpg

The picture is of a G35's engine bay with the engine cover removed. Amagine that manifold turned 90 degrees clockwise and thats how it will sit in the maximas engine bay.

Okay, I'm still not understanding where the difficulties would be. Judging by those pics and the pics of a Maximas engine bay, I dont see that big of a difference at all. I mean I see where the Gs TB and manifold are a little more curved, but I dont see how some custom plastic at the end couldn't connect the Maxima manifold/TB (or the G35 manifold if you do a swap) to that. Am I missing something here?

Yes, the G's manifold will sit 90 degrees clockwise in the maxima's engine bay. Just picture it in your head. Incase your wondering why the intake will be turned 90 degrees, it is becuase the G's motor is turned sideways that amount compared to the max. The pulleys on the G35 are right behind the fan.

Oh, okay. I think I get it now. So will the G's manifold be on the right side of the Maximas engine bay as opposed to the rear where it is now?

To be honest I'm still confused, but what about this, keeping the Maximas manifold and just using the G35s intake with say a 350Z ECU, would that work?

If you want to use the G35 intake correctly (in the proper place) then no, you would have to modify it. If you modify it you would probably be better off starting from scratch and making your own. I don't know anything about the 350Z's ECU yet so..

I looked closer at the Maxima engine bay, and you're right, its not really feasible. The position of the battery and some other stuff makes it impractical. Oh well.
