Jack points on 2002
Jack points on 2002
I just bought a 2 ton alligator jack, so I can lift the 2002 onto some jack stands for various work.
Does anyone have the safe lift point on the centerline (for lifting all of the front, or rear) and on the midline (for lifting one side)
Many thanks,
SkyDaver, yr frndly nghbrhd newbie.

Check your manual. I recall seeing it there.

I'm looking for the spots where I can lift the entire front or back end, or either side, lifting both wheels off the ground with one jack.
I think I may have found the spot in the front. Right on the centerline, just behind the plastic of the bumper, there is a metal projection with a flat surface. It seems to be in the right place, and strong enough.
I've been planning to get a service manual ... that should have this info.

Be sure to use a jack cradle pad... firm rubber pad that fits in the cradle of the jack. You can buy them, or cut one out of an old tire or make one from a block of wood (which is what I did). It'll prevent scratching the finish, leading to rust.
Also, your jack's cradle has to span the width of the beam, but most do. Even the small 2 1/2 ton floor jack I got was OK for that.
Haven't found a point in the front, though.

However, they don't help much if you need to take the wheels off.
If you want to put the car onto jack stands, ramps don't help.
Looks like I've found the front center spot, and someone else mentioned using the beam axle for rear center, so I'll be able to lift one end or another.
Given that the scissor jack uses the frame rail, and straddles that 'flange', I'll be that if I make a wooden block to go over the flange, I can lift one side using that same rail.
I'll let you know how it turns out ;-)

I'm terribly greedy, though ... is there one spot on the side where you can lift the entire side of the car?

I think if the hydraulic jack has a well-shaped 'cup' you won't damage or crimp the beam.. it's pretty sturdy.
