New Mod Idea

well i did some thinking. How bout this! the 2k maxes may have a different fuel injector and mass air flow sensor than the 3.5 2k2. I would imagine that the hookups are the same. If us 2k-2k1 owners got a bigger maf and bigger injectors................whooo hooo more power. And suck an easy bolt on installation. I looked the the injectors and they are cake to remove and re-install.

Whats everybody's opinion

I think the power from the 2K2 is coming from the bigger displacement engine, not the injectors. Not such an easy mod (unless you have a cylinder boring machine)

well now with bigger displacement comes more need for air. probably gonna need more fuel too. I am going to check out the part numbers, and see if the connectors match.

time to visit my local crappy nissan dealer. They all suck around here

Now if that were true, then the Pathfinder, QX4, Altima, Maxima, 350Z, I35, and G35 would all deliver the same power. There are certainly other components to the power delivery and, although I'm not sure Foglight has found one, it is probably worth looking into it. Similar to how some VQ35 Maxi owners are investigating part swaps with the G35.

The most likely thing

you'll get, is to see ur award winning v6 go *BOOM*.

I don't think its that simple. If the sensor work within the same voltage range then no change. If it provides different voltage ranges you'll have one confused computer and possibly *BOOM*

Re: The most likely thing

maf sensors run on a basic universal voltage system for a particular maker. but i just read that the hookup is different and it is the same size. It could be calibrated differently. Did this operation with fords before on the 2.5 contour motors, but not sure how it would work out on the nissans.

Yeah, it might be a good idea to let your computer know about this.

I don't know about the 00&01 but my 99's MAF was considerably smaller (1/2" in dia.) than my 02. I know this from my Stealen intakes, I had both at the same time.

I'd be really careful about swapping in larger 2k2 injectors w/o a ECU remap. n cold-start up and maybe WOT you'll run too rich and probably cause long-term problems not to mention run slower from running too fat.
