Help! Berk Intake problem - bad.

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but I cannot seem to keep my berk intake on the throttle body. I tried first using the mounting bracket and it would pull it off and then I tried zip ties, which eventually pulled it off, now I'm just letting it lay in there with no mounting device. I thought since it was pointing down more it wouldnt pull off, but recently it comes all the way off the throttle body and my car acts like it has a blown MAF. I know this can't be good for the car to get unfiltered air, please someone help on what I should do about this. I guess I am going to put the stock air box back on today when I get home. I can't keep putting the intake back on. Help.

Here is a link to what your setup should look like. The intake mounting bracket goes on the MAF, not the throttle body. Mount the intake bracket to the MAF, it's the smooth black tube(right side) with the wires coming out of the top. Put the other stuff between the throttle body and MAF back. Sounds like your putting the intake on the wrong part.

ya i know how it goes, i put the mounting bracket in the right place, it would just seem to pull the maf away from the throttle body...i thought that this was a problem with the mounting bracket, but then it did the same thing when i zip-tied it and then again when i just let it hang...it doesn't seem to want to stay in there and i dont know what to do about it...

I had this same problem with my stillen after nissan replaced my variable intake system. I believe when they did the replacement, the throttle body ended up a bit closer to the passenger cabin. Sounds like yours may be that way naturally.

Went through the exact same problem. Finally, I did what you did and disconnected the Stillen bracket, moved to a different place. Since I was changing to cai - I never "re-attached" the mounting bracket to the firewall.

What I was going to do was simply drill a hole in the firewall at the spot where the mounting bracket met the firewall, then screw the bracket to the firewall.

ya that sounds like something that i might have to end up doing, but id much rather not...i think im gonna put the stock air box back on, take it to nissan, since its under warranty, and tell them that whoever had this before me must have had an intake and i have noticed that the throttle body connection to my maf is a little weak....maybe they will fix it for me and then i can try again...if not id say ill prob sell the intake and forget the hassle...i cant stand this thing coming off and me almost stalling, etc...anyone else got any suggestions?

They'll look at it and say it is fine. It'll be more effort than it is worth.

I'd just make certain you have it installed properly.

Hey MDCBarks10, I have a Berk intake, and about a month after it was installed, the K&N filter just fall of the alu cast part that hook up to the MAF, I just thighen the metal thing surrounding the filter and it never came off. Dont know if it's the same problem as you describe, to avoid the filter to fall off again, I just order a new cone style filter that will fit directly and replace the longer K & N filter, and because the new one is shorter I guess there will be less tension.

Cheers

Hey MDCBarks10, did you thighen the 4 bolts in the maf assembly, cuz when you remove the original air intake, you had to remove those 4 bolts to later re-use it for you intake.

Cheers

Are you pushing the accordian tube all the way up the throttle body?

i didn't end up using the bracket because it pulled on the accordian section too hard. so i just zip-tied mine to that brace on the shock tower

cheers

does the bracket allowed to be moved a little when you push down a little bit on the intake or it shouldn't move a 100%, because then wouldn't the MAF sensor fail?
