Window Tint

Can anyone post pictures of their tint? I have to get 35% on the front, and I am pondering the best tint for the back. I am not sure that the contrast of 35% to 5% would look good. Perhaps, 35% to 15% would be better.

Any suggestions or examples?

Thanks for you help!

Re: Window Tint

You're gonna get flamed for this, so I'll start with some kind words.

Read around for a little while. Do a search on tint and look at homepages.

But, honestly, you'd be much better off going to a tint shop and looking at cars in person. Pictures don't do tint justice.

And welcome to .org.

Flamed.

Hmm. I did an exhaustive search a couple of weeks ago. I don't remember this exact topic coming up.

Re: Flamed.

just curious... with 35% on the front, why 5% or even 15% on the back? Why not 35% like the front?

if you put 35 then 5 on the back, it will contrast too much and it will look like you have no tint on the front. moreover, the cop will be able to tell easier that the back is limo. i have 20% titanium all around my majestic blue, and it looks good. try 35 in the front if u say u must have that, and either 35 or 20 on the back.

Legal

In Texas that max legal in front 35%. No limit in back, so I wanted as dark as I can stand without looking bad. It is very very hot here and need all the relief I can get.

I'm thinking about 15% now in back. I 5% would contrast too much.

My tints

by the way i paid $200 for mine and the tints come all the way to the end of the window, leaving no clear gap, this is the best possible tint you can get, and the back window is one sheet

Mine is 5% on all windows except the windshield. Windshield done 35%. $200. I hope that everyone who gets tint gets one sheet for the rear window, if not, move on to the next store.

Illegal?...Yes.
Care?......No.

Most mods on people's cars here are in someway illegal.

Mine is tinted the same way. It gets way to hot out here in so cal. I had to tint mine dark because of my black leather seats. Yes it's illegal, but my fire fighter sticker helps me out just in case I get pulled over

I just got 18% all around in Florida and it is perfect, on my accord I had 35% and I was upset that it was too light. You can barely tell that it is illegal and cops dont really care. The best thing about 18% is that people cant tell where your looking or what your doing they can barely see in from 2-3 feet away, so I can stare at people, pick my nose, and sing in the car. Not that I ever do any of those things, but I could.

I yell at kids and every once in a while whip out the **** and beat it on the window, you know just to see if anyone notices. Just kidding I would never do that, because my windows smear really easy.

I'm sorry but I have to flame here. Why in the world would you tint your windshield? Thats the piece of glass you see out of. Thats what you drive with. That is the stupidest thing i've ever heard of. Especially at night, i'm sure the tint helps yours visibility. there is such a thing as taking things too far. With all your other windows blacked out at limo, it will make your windshield look dark already, because there won't be any background light. you don't need to tint the one piece of glass you look out of to drive!

Sorry for the rant, its been a bad day...

You want a pic from inside the car. It is almost transparent at night. Also, I don't get glare when I'm driving during the day so I think that it is safer than an all clear windshield. Not to mention, if you don't tint your windshield you are leaving the first or second biggest piece of glass exposed to let heat in, might as well not tint any windows in that case. As a reminder, I live in Las Vegas where at 12:27am it is 93 degrees outside.

I have 14% on the sides and the back, and 40% on the front. Check your local laws about front tint, as it may not be legal to cover the ENTIRE windshield, but only the top/bottom 3-9". Florida only allows 6" from the top. But if you have a GOOD installer who can use 40" sheets, then you can have the entire front done at 35-40%, including the dark strip at the top (which makes it darker as well, thereby causing a contrast from the front, which causes cops to think that it's factory). I like the look of my car, but there are times that I wish the back and sides were darker. I think that's just because I'm in Florida, where the sun beats down on you all the time.

I'll get some pics uploaded soon, as I just washed my car... Now to find the camera.

I guess it is all about where you live, but I tend to agree with Ironlord. I couldn't imagine driving around the roads in the Cascades or the Olympics with a tinted windshield. I have enough trouble spotting everything on the road with the high beams on and no tint. If you live in Vegas, though...there aren't exactly a lot of dark nights.

100% illegal in all states. I forgot which state, but there is this tint that is a UV blocker that is almost 100% transparent which is allowed in two states last time I looked. Do a search and you might find the link, but it was pretty buried in a previous thread.
