Maxima.org ad frame

What is with the annoying Maxima.org adframe that keeps popping up now? I can barely finish a sentence on this site without having that annoying window open up. Even if I leave it in the background...it takes over in mid-sentence! That has gotten old REALLY fast!

It only happens when I reply to a thread or start a thread. About 20 seconds in I get an advertisement window that pops up to trying and sell me something. It doesn't seem to happen all the time, but often enough that it is extremely annoying. Oh...and it didn't happen with this reply.... go figure.

It just started about a week ago and nothing changed with my computer. Besides, what could possibly be set wrong...the radio button stating, "please open up annoying advertisement boxes every 30 seconds (only on the maxima.org site) until I snap"?

That's not happening. It is impossible that only you are getting it, and not the other 1000's of people that come on here everyday. I think you are getting it from another application. Like if you have another browser open, or are logged onto some other application like Kazaa, etc...

right click inside the ad window and click properties. that will show the URL of the ad and where the ad is hosted. hopefully that will tell you what's popping these ads up.

my money is on gator.

What is Kazaa, I downloaded it but it started to scare me when it tried to set my hard drive as a shared diredtory.

it's a file sharing program (p2p)......it also has third party spyware included, so i wouldnt' get it.....a better alternative is kazaa lite....it's made by enthusiasts, and doesn't have gay pop ups and ads.....no more spyware, and no more bitrate limit....

Kazaa Lite

It's a shareware program that allows you to download pic's, song's, and videos off other users pc's. Kinda like Napster but better.

First off... it only happens on my home computer, an iMac (don't even bother with the comments!). It hasn't happened at work, but we have some pretty stiff firewall software.

And yes, it is happening. It just happened again right now... here is the web address (that never completely populates).

https://maxima.org/ads/adframe.php?what=468x60

Any more guesses?
