another thought about HID theft prevention...

what about wrapping a small black wire around the tabs and under the clips and along the wire for the hood release?

if cut, circuit opens, relay sends ground to alarm. alarm makes sound...

seems pretty easy. dunno...

i was thinking this. for those that dont' want the mesh grille and want the stock to stay the same, why not just buy your own mesh and stick it behind the stock grille. a dark one won't be visible at all and it would prevent a thief from cutting the hood release. well it wouldn't prevent it completely, but will delay him. it's all about making it harder for them.
i'm currently making a ghetto mesh that'll go around the hood release area and then swoops in from the bottom so that even if they took the clips out from under the car, they still can't get to it.

does this sound worth it or waste of time? suggestions anyone?

My alarm goes off when the hood is opened. If you get the Autopage, make sure you add a pin switch to the hood.

They don't "cut the good release", they simply reach up from the bumper opening and pop the latch with a screw driver in 5-secs. MAX.

Anything that prevents access to the hood latch area behind the grille will slow SOME of the theives down.

I'm thinking the BEST protection to prevent the "pry through the front" method is some small fine steel cable wrapped around the edge of the lights and SUPER GLUED to the housing. This all depends if you can secure it to the frame with some kind of lock though.

Do you think the steel cable super glued/epoxyed around the perimeter of the housing and secured to the frame is a good/bad idea?

It's going to give them something to play tug-of-war with.
