in-cabin microfilter difficulties

i didn't get one with the car so i bought one from daveb and i go to install the thing today. yeah, the instructions with the filter are nice.. very simple. but for the life of me i couldn't locate the 'lower glove box finisher.' i'm looking around for the thing but couldn't find anything that even closely resembled the picture. so unscrewed the other bolts and decided to pull on the glove compartment to see if there was anything restricting it from popping out, figuring that must be what i'm looking for. well, i guess they forgot to put one in my car, cuz my glove compartment came out like a champ. popped right outta there. everything else was uneventful.

another thumbs up for nissan quality control.

once you unscrew the door of the glove, there's a clip that holds a panel about 1x8 inches (the size of the edge of the filter) Open that, andslide the filter in.

zooooooooooooooom

Any advantage to the in-cabin filter if you hardly ever use the a/c? of actually, hardly use the air control at all?

It's an inline filter to your fan/ac in the car. If you live in key west and always drive w/your windows open then it would do absolutely nothing. I live in LA and it's good for freeways for pollution and dust because it's so dry here. Even so, I still drive w/the sunroof and windows open a lot too, but it's nice to know when things are nasty out there that you're maybe breathing a little less of it!!!!

I couldn't find the lower glove box finisher on my 02 GLE either. It looks like something that was eliminated, probably to cut costs.

Has anyone tried to wash the filter? It's made from a pleated paper that seems to be treated to make it stiff.

read tim's post. only on the i30/35 but i guess not on the max.

btw, the filters provide a nice mount for an air freshener. just turn on the a/c and voila - mountain freshness... or squash.

I changed mine out a week ago. There were all sorts of small leaves and debris caught in the filter that would have otherwise ended up in the HVAC system.

Works for me...
