Wheels/ Tires question
Wheels/ Tires question
I have a 2k Maxima SE with the 16" wheels and original 215 55-16's Toyos. Was thinking of going to 225 -50-16's on my new tires. Has anyone done this and is it a good idea? tI want to get a slightly wider more fender filled stance?
got more info
Went to Tirerack.com and found something interesting.
The 225 55 16's are actually closer to stock diameter than 225 50's. This should fill wheel wells even better all be it not lower profile for better handling. When I checked stock 17" diameter specs the overall diameter of the 17's was actually slightly larger than the 225 55 16's. So I think I will go for that size in the New Bridgestone RE950's. Very nice tires, have old model RE930's on my 240sx and love those.

Yeah I have those same wheels on my gle, I'm not going to say anything concerning wheel and tire combinations, because Y2kse will come in and ram a shovel up my azz and call me a fool....uh... yeah the best way to avoid this reaction from people would be to use the search link and search for "tire sizes" or something
P.S Nice 240sx what year?

I know what you mean...
I currently have 235/45s on my stock rims. Wheel Works in San Jose recommended them. I haven't had any problems. None. But I must be the exception to the rule. I have been searching all day for info on rim weights and tire sizes. I haven't found anything I can really use. I found a few thread that have been locked because of arguemnts of safety. Tirerack and tires.com sell rims, however, they do not disclose the weight of the rim.
I'm looking for a nice 17x8 or 18x8 rim that is light weight but inexpensive. (fat chance!) It's too bad that when people start to disagree, that the tread gets locked.
PS. A shovel? I'm trying not to picture that....... How about a PR24?
