CAI and warranty

Ok heres the situation,
i just bought a brand new 2002 se and I was wondering if a CAI would void the warranty or give me any problems with the dealer.

Also are there any disadvantages with having CAI like poorer gas mileage or throwing off the complicated systems of the engine

ill answer this before someone says use the search feature, but any aftermarket part does not automatically void the warranty. however, if you have a cai then your mass air flow sensor fails, they are less likely to fix it under warranty. i keep all my mods on when i go in and theyve never said a word about any of it. you can search on sema and see how dealerships should treated modified cars with factory warranties. they might give you a hassle but legally they cant void it unless it can be proven to have direct cause for the failure of whatever system you come in for.
