What is the average price of a new Maxima SE fully loaded and a SE with just average stuff in it currently? Not what they were 6 months ago because they should be going down with the 2k3'z on their way So name two prices here. Just wondering.

Go to www.carsdirect.com and build one. That should give you a pretty good idea.

You can generally get it around invoice price, then apply a rebate!

I would think they would start dropping the prices shortly seeing the 2003's are coming out.

I checked carsdirect and edmunds TMV (true market value) but it would be great to get some information from people who recently bought an 2k2 or 2k3 max to see what price was actually paid - Out the door price would be really helpful for those of us currently considering a new purchase.

I just purchased a 2k3 SE Auto with Titanium pkg and Leather, etc. Paid $500(the dealer incentive) below dealer invoice(which can be found on edmunds or kelley blue book web sites). They also had leftover 2k2 SEs and my price would have been dealer invoice minus the $1000 rebate. For the extra $500 plus the Nissan 2003 model increase of about $200, I opted to purchase the 2k3 that supposedly has all the recall and tsb issues fixed and is a model year newer.

I bought my 02 SE with everything but leather/navi. I paid $700 under invoice, before rebate. I actually took the financing instead of the rebate.

As helpful as those responses are, I'm lost. $500 below invoice, $1,000 below invoice, please help us by being a tad bit more specific. What options did you get, and what was the out the door price? Thanx.

My Price
Purchased 7/07/02

2002 SE
Leather, 6-disk Bose, sunroof, spoiler, tint.

Paid right at $28,000 before TTL a little over $30,000 with.

3.9% financing.

I negotiated for an hour, but it still seems like I paid a lot more than most people on this board. I think geography has a lot to do with it. I bought it Austin. It's probably a lot cheaper in Houston or San Antonio just in Texas alone. I am sure it varies a lot around the nation.

$21999
I bought a 2K2 sterling mist SE non bose or navi in January. The sticker was $26179, which included floor mats and painted mud flaps and the painted ground effect looking piece under the doors. The dealer invoice was $22k something (sorry I forget exact #). I paid $21999 with rebate and still got dealer financing at 5% for five years. When I bought mine there was a 3% dealer holdback on all maximas, not sure if they still have them. Check the numerous websites such as Kelly Bluebook or Edmunds for prices and bring printouts of them with you to the dealer. I purchased my car in approx 1 hour time with no haggling, I just showed them that I did my research and got a great deal.

According to Edmunds.com, Nissan has a holdback that is 3% of total invoice. When I was dealing with the salespeople, they actually admitted the $ amount of that holdback to me, on their own.

Good question... I have a feeling i'm getting ripped when I'm buying new cars because they give me this lingo that I cannot define.

Holdback is the true cost of the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer usually gets a certain percentage of vehicles cost to help him with the everyday cost of doing business. So the invoice may lets say $26,000, but there could be a $400 holdback. Then Nissan gives YOU a reabate that you can take as cash or spend as a down payment on the car.

BTW

STICKER 31,700
I paid: 27,550

This is before the $1000 rebate too. Did I get a good deal? I feel like I got a decent deal, and it was fair bothways...OPINIONS?

i bought the car from a dealer in westbury NY. they were giving a promotion to get rid of 2k02s,so if you put down 5K, they matched it. SO, from what i see, i did GREAT!

I purchased my 2K2 se for $21,999 in Lynfield Mass (Kelly Nissan). I tried buying a 2K2 se in Tewksbury mass but the dealer wouldn't go below $24,999 for the exact same car and wouldn't even throw in floor mats. I didn't get the Bose or navi, I figured that it was a waste to get the Bose since I plan on installing my own stereo in the future. Be sure and do your research on the web, you can learn all about dealer holdback, invoice price etc and be sure to bring that info to the dealer with you.

I've always wondered...
If the dealer matches your down payment, what happens if you put down half the price of the car? With 4.9% APR, don't you end up only paying 54.9% of the total price to own the car? And then you get $1000 back in rebate form too!
