Melted Plastic..AAGGGGHH
AAAAGGHHHH!!!! We'll went out to my car this morning to find that the silver cover at the base of the shifter was shriveled and peeling. I threw an air freshner around the shifter yesterday, and by this morning it look like someone held a cigarette lighter to it, and I've only had the car a month...
I had no idea how destructive an airfreshner could be, but I guess anything with alcohol in it can cause havok with plastic. How would I go about finding the part number for this piece so I can replace it..
Thanks,
Tom

I just looked at the parts list and the part number/price combination makes no sense (with leather $151 without leather $110}
with --96935-3Y000 $151
without --96935-3Y1000r $110
but if yours was that dingy black shift boot that comes stock ....i will send you mine in the mail!! I now have a custom boot that matches my interior!!!
pm me and let me know!!

Ms Thickness.
Thanks for the offer, but my car is automatic. I beleive that the part that melted is called the "Shifter Insert" It's the base peice of plastic that has the holes in it that show what gear the car is in. I have a Grey Lustre 2002 and the peice in question is silver.
I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to cars, so excuse my inability to describe it any better. This is my first car that I'm really jazzed about, so I'm trying to become more "auto-literate"
Thanks,
Tom
