I am in the market for a new Maxima and was wondering if some of the other owners might comment on the price I should expect to pay. A dealer in my area has the exact model I am looking to purchase. It is a 2001 GLE with a grey lustre exterior and black leather interior. It has an automatic transmission, sunroof, traction control, 6-disc changer, floor mats, splash guards, and a wind deflector. The MSRP is $28,853 and they have offered it to me for $25,990. Is this a fair deal or should I fight for a lower price. Any comments would be appreciated.

in september, i bought a GXE for $23k, so i think that a loaded gle for $25.??k is good, but i would wait to see what actual gle owners have to say.

 

Of the 3 different packages offered on the MAX(gxe,se,gle) the GLE is the most expensive. I bought a fully loaded SE at fleet price(may 2000)for $26,900 plus fees. Sticker was $29,200. If they are offering you a 2001 GLE for $25,900 ,I think its a good price. You would be getting about $3000 off the price for a 2001 model????? Id say you are gettin g a good deal.

 

 

This isn't an outrageous price as I see it. It's year-end, so better deals could be had on the 2K models.

In June of 1999, I paid 25.5K for my 2000 GLE, which was pretty good, considering it was a new model for the next year.

 

I have a 2001 Gle fully loaded, even the rear spoiler, got it for 25500.
Should have bought an Se (5spd),but being stuck in traffic from work everyday automatic is not bad.

 

dealer told me no spoiler come with the GLE model!!

 

Bought the GLE with Meridian- I sorta forget what came with this package but I think it has side-airbags, heated seats, low washer fluid warning, trunk lid trim and I'm sure more stuff- Sunroof, gold package, spoiler, Traction control, Mud Guards-really doesn't work well- and 6-disc changer. Price was $30,200, but I got the car for $27,000. I thought it was a good deal and the black SE-very sweet color for this car- next to it didn't have some of the options I wanted, so I couldn't pass up on this deal.

Btw- are the wind deflectors taped on or screwed on?

 

a loaded SE can cost a few dollars more than a loaded GLE. Thats about how much my GLE cost (4 or 500 over invoice). so not a bad deal.

 

I live in New York and got a price on the 2001 GLE with all options except for CD changer for 24,700 w/o tax. With the changer, add on about $400. Includes all fees except Registration/Licence fee.

By the way, the dealer was young and accidentally let out that because it is the end of the year, there are special incentives for the maxima and all of nissan's cars. Also, wait till near the end of December and you can most likely talk them down several hundred dollars more. It's the end of the year and dealerships have to pay tax on whatever cars are on their lot. Good luck.

P.S. - carefully test drive the EXACT max you will be buying before you sign any contract or give a down payment. Take note of the VIN number and make sure it's the same one you walk out the door with.
