Scanner to Clock Unit Wiring INstall Question

Hi Dixit,

Or anyone else out there. If you look at your explanation, you say that the scanner "It will blink or do whatever pattern when the car is off or armed" Well do you have a suggestion on what wires need to be tapped if I only want the scanner to run when the car is armed?

THanks.

The only way that can be done is probably though an aftermarket alarm where a certain wire gets grounded only when the system is armed. Most aftermarket alarms have this.

For nissan factory alarm, I cant think of any wire that will allow you to do this. The security LED blinks when the car is off so that is why I cant figure out a way around that.

Hi,

Dixit,
I see your point! I just installed the varad led in the hole that my factory alarm light was in. (the varad is just a super bright single led) The back of the package mentions two ways of hooking it up. ONe only when the alarm is triggered and the other when the engine is turned off.

So I used your set up, and the light kept blinking even though I handt activated the alarm yet. (your method, like the suggested method needs only two wires no ground needed!) So I thought you f'd up. But I knew better, and I suspected your expertise led you to the proper way of intalling. In fact you were correct! And I noticed the same thing after an hour of tinkering with the wires and hooking the led up in different combos.

ON the nissan that stock p.o.s. led blinks the second you turn off the car. Thats why the new one does too. Oh well, I counldnt find a way not to make it blink either.

THanks for the illustrations I used them for my install.

Yeap, like I said, if I know of a wire that is only grounded when the factory alarm is armed, then your idea of having come on when armed would work.
