I was wondering if anyone has added the outside heated mirrors to their Maxima? I know that they are part of the Meridian Package.

I would assume that this could be done. My dealer told me that you could add the Meridain Package to any Maxima....but I am not sure about individual options from that option package.

All that you would probably have to do, would be to replace the actual mirrors with mirrors with heating elements on the backs? I am sure that all Maximas are wired for this option....so it might be as easy as just plugging it in.

I have the Meridian package. The mirrors are wired to the rear window defroster button. The hardest part would probably be doing all the wiring in and out to the mirrors.

I would tend to agree.. If dealerships do it routinely, it should prolly be pre-wired...

Dunno if they would just sell you the mirrors tho..!!

According to the Nissan ESM, the circuit for the heated door mirrors is an 'optional' circuit: only in place if that option is installed. Aslo, an additional relay for the heated mirros also needs to be installed. Suppose it could be installed by the dealer, but not sure how easy the wiring would be.

I called the dealership...and now they are telling me another story.

What the salesperson MEANT to tell me was that LEATHER could be added to any Maxima...I knew that already...what a dumb a$$.

Now they are telling me that the Meridian Package is a from-the-factory-only-option. And if the "optional circuit" is true...then I doubt that all Maximas are wired for the heated mirrors.

I also talked to the Parts Department and they couldn't even find anything about heated mirrors for the Maxima!

If anyone finds out anything to the contrary please post it.

I wouldn't mind having heated mirrors..these winters are getting brutal !

I found this old crusty thread right before I created a new one. .

I am reviving this question. The one thing I really wish my Max had right now is heated side mirrors. Does anyone have anymore useful imput ont his subject?
I will probably stop by the dealer tomorrow and see if it can be done reasonably (by me not them).

No way Matt ! The only way is to get Meridian from the factory . There is too much wiring and modding to get this to work, which doesnt come stock on your car. Thats why I made sure I got everything available.... even if I dont use it.. Just in case...

I always get my cars with every option except Navi, Auto, and wood grain interrior (yuk). I've regretted not doing that in the past. It is so much cheaper to get them when you buy it new then to add on. Also, it helps the resale (ie: above post )

Here's the drill

I have already kicked this question around and this is what I have gotten. According to one FNND, to have heated mirrors installed on a non-Meridian Maxima will be a 10 hour process. According to the parts department, they would have to replace the body harness which entails ripping out the interior. Then you would have to change the a/c switch to the automatic one since the heated mirror switch is integrated in that control . Finally, you have to replace the mirrors. Price tag: $3,000

However, I am going to another FNND to see what they say. If they say it can be done without the above major surgery, I'll bite. If not, I am keeping a blow dryer in the car so I can defrost my mirrors in the morning.

From what Ive read on other forums you're correct. The car should be prewired. Remove your drivers side view mirror assembly and look at the wiring going to the plug. If there's 5 wires (on the car side of the harness) you're good to go (3 for power motor and 2 for defrost). Go to a junk yard where you pull your own parts. Look at the drivers mirror on the maximas until you find one with the defroster symbol on the glass. Remove both side mirrors (the whole assembly not just the glass) and then pop the hood and take out the heated mirror relay. They're probably gonna charge you $30 each side. Then go home and plug in the relay under the hood and install the mirrors. The guy on the write up (http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/5th...e-mirrors.html) made it more complicated than it had to be by converting his stock mirrors into heated mirrors by adding wiring and stuff. Skip all that noise and just get the used heated mirrors.

This is a wonderful thing that you have commented on this thread! The person that asked the question was waiting for your answer just for 12 years!

I'm pretty sure it would be a plug and play. Last time I removed my mirror I remember seeing extra wires on the harness that my non heated mirrors didn't have. Plus the relay is already wired, just got to stick a relay in
