Perf. Cams and N2O?

Per Cattman, JWT is supposedly near completing w/ the 5th gen. cams.

I know certian mods, like ECU chips (which advance timing), can increase the chance of detonation w/N2O, and I don't want that.

Does anyone know if performance cams are safe to run on a car w/ N2O?

Re: Perf. Cams and N2O?

If anything, hi-po cams would allow the motor to run even safer. Hi-po cams have more overlap between the intake and exhaust cams, which effectively decreases the compression of the motor. Nitrous increases combustion chamber pressures and can cause gasket, piston ring, etc failures. Since you're effectively dropping the pressures inside the chambers with hi-po cams, the same nitrous shot would yield less pressure inside the engine, and would allow it to run more under *kaboom* limit.

This all assumes the overlap isn't so radical that it allowed for backfire through the intake ports, which could be really bad with nitrous. Being that these are simply hi-po street cams from JWT, I don't think they would be so radical.

What I'm gettin at is, I think you'd be safe running these cams and nitrous.

while talkin about cams

while we are talkin about hi po cams, are they going to be available for all 5th gens, 2000-2003? and what kind of performance gains can we expect from the cams alone, or with intakes and exhausts and things like that...in other words how beneficial will these cams be to us and what gains if any could we expect? i guess basically what i am looking for is info on thses hi po cams for our cars.
thanks
