this cop said that now having a clear lights in the back of the car is a point-on-ur-sorry-***-driver's-record.
she let me go with a fix-ticket, but heck...
anywayz....am i the FIRST person to get pulled over for the rear clears or what?
well, watch out for the cops dudes~~~

p.s. especially you Y2KevSE...hehe....not to pick on you but i just know that you got your clears with the blue bulbs inside...just like me...=P

irvine cops are picky

hey, i drive around in irvine a lot too. those cops are crazy...i have a friend there who got a ticket for jay walking. i know they like to pick on fixed up cars and give fix it tickets. i think that city has one of the highest police officer per captia ratios of anywhere in the country so they're all sitting around with nothing to do but give tickets. just be careful when you drive there.

TRD Solara....hmmmmm

that's a nice car you got there...
well, maybe i've seen you around some day...
did you know that 98% of police calls responded by the Irvine police were all due to false alarms?
that's WHY they give tickets to people who jaywalk.
*******S!!!(irvine PD i mean...not you TRD..)
ok...peace

NYC cops are too busy eating donuts and looking out for all the murderers to bother with me and my little old rear clears!

well....it's just in irvine i guess....

well, the cop did say(and i heard in amazement) that it is ok to have white lights for the front.
thinking that i misunderstood her, i asked her again and she said it's ok to have white lights for the fronts but not for the back.
so i guess i'm just going to change the bulbs in the rear clears to red ones...instead of blue bulbs...in that way, it'll emit red lights at night and stay clear during the day...
DID ANYONE EVER GET PULLED OVER FOR THE REAR CLEARS YET?

-peace

Thanks for your concern. I've driven by cops, next to cops, by cops, and have yet to get pulled over yet. *knock on wood*

I'm more worried about my tint than the clears.

yeah...the officer didn't give me a ticket for my tint though...she said since i don't have very dark tints for my fronts, she was going to let me go with it.
but man~~~ i can't drive without my TINTS!!!!
whoever wrote these code books, must have been a complete idiot with no regards to styling!~

oh wellz...at least those cops can't touch me about the rear clears until Jan 31, 2001~~~~ hehe....(that's the date that i have to get it signed off by..)

about the law with the tail lights. The officer told me the covering of the bulb has to be the same color as the signal (red and amber being the only legal ones). But many many cars come with clear face covers with amber bulbs, so I don't know how that works. And yes, driving/living in Irvine is a PITA with the damned IPD. I'm going for a record for window tint tickets, I'm at 5 right now, most recent one was this Tuesday night...oh well.

actually, i have a pet peeve about window tint. it's not always bad, but from a safety stand point i hate tinted cars. when i drive i like to scan the road ahead for hazards, and having tinted windows it's hard for me to scan through car windows, especially in stop and go traffic.

also, i don't know how many times i've been stopped in traffic like an idiot waiting for some car. many times i'm in a driveway waiting to come out, and a driver is signaling me to let me in with his hand...too bad his window is up and he has dark tint. i can't see a thing, he stops, i'm still stopped waiting, and traffic is getting clogged and drivers are getting impatient.

but hey...that's my own little pet peeve. i'm sure those of you with tint realize this and roll down your window whenever you signal to someone so they can actually see you. i'm not against tint, just saying that a driver takes on more responsibility to others on the road when he or she decides to tint their windows.

There's a reason why cars come with red tail and brake lights, amber turn signals and clear back ups - so the drivers behind you can tell what you are doing. It is even worldwide!!! If you slam on your blue lighted brakes and get rear-ended it is your fault!! Clear lenses are a fine fashion statement, but at least use the right colored bulbs, that will pass legal code almost everywhere. Don't forget - it could be a Peterbilt behind you.

Technically, the DOT regulation is when you look at the car from the side, you must be able to see amber at the front, red at the back... day or night. From the rear, you HAVE TO HAVE red reflectors, brake lights much shine red, and turn signal much be yellow or amber.

I think most police officers are not worried about the front as much as the rear. Frankly, if you ever drive behind someone with clear tails and "red" bulbs.. the lights shine pink, and yuo can't see it till you are up close.

Also, if someone smacks you from behind, and your have clear tails... it's your fault, and your insurance will probably drop you.

ok ok ok....
i think we've already established the fact that we're NOT suppose to have anything but red and amber bulbs.....
(for the record...i don't have the clears for the whole taillights, i just have clears for the rear side markers..w/blue lights)
any who...all these feedbacks are incredibly interesting..
some good stories and some bad ones...but it's all cool guys. although i think the clear lenses are the least of my worries anywayz...
oh, yeah, the cop who pulled me over...she said that it's ok to have non-red and non-amber lights for the fronts!!
LET'S LIGHT UP THE NIGHT STREETS!!!

You Can get red LED bulbs that work fine with clear outs. They don't turn pink or get discolored at all. They don't cost too much either, if anyone has a Jegs catalog they would be in there.
