Beware of little old ladies in fast cars?

I was not coming home from work. I decided to stop by the local mod shop Big Boys Toys in Queens. Cruising on the LIE doing like 60 enjoynng the afternoon air come through the sunroof. All of a sudden this super black CLK 55 AMG coupe speeds up right on my a$$ and flashes the light for my to move over. So i spead up a bit then she passed my with the windows down and saw the lady she look like she was about 70. The car which was infront of her slow down and she totally cut my off get back into my lane. So now i ****ed thinking that this damm old lady i going to show her a think or two about driving. So change lane and gunned it she did the same and was on my a$$ for about 3 exits she damm passed my and she was OUT. I mean GONE. my exit came up and i got off went to the shop then i saw was same old lady in the Queens Center Mall and she gave me the thumbs up and left. What a day smoked by an OLD LADY !!!

Those are fast cars. Followed a C32 for a little bit the other day, the road opened up and he was gone. Didn't bother trying to keep up...

In a car that costs 3x what ours costs, is +90 on us for HP and +130 for torque.

I wouldn't feel bad about losing to an AMG.

Actually I thought the golden rule was "The older you get, the slower you get." Smoked by an Old Lady, yeah that would make me feel bad.

Doesn't "smoked by an old lady" have some other, non-car related connotation?

I have had many old ladies try and buy some sports car from me. I had a couple old ladies buy some 300z's. One old lady came in with her son and I thought the car was his cause it had some 18's and some exhaust pipes. I was like "Hey bro, your car is nice" He was like "Thats not my car, its my moms" It so happen to be the mom brought the son in to buy a truck. I was tripping out. The lady must of been in her late 50's. I'm telling you, you never know what you might run into.

Re: Re: Re: Beware of little old ladies in fast cars?

AMG was a external tuner who specialized on Mercedes-Benz vehicle. These guys were doing such a good job that Mercedes bought them and brought them in-house.

With regards to the actual vehicles, an AMG vehicle is a vehicle of a given class (E-class, C-class, etc) that been souped up with a more powerful engine, better brakes, better suspension, etc.

Typically, an AMG vehicle has different nomeclature than normal by dropping off the last number in the name.

Therefore, while regular C-classes are named C240, C320 the AMG version is called C32. They also tend to have the AMG badge on them.

Overall, AMG has the same meaning for MB as M cars do for BMW.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Beware of little old ladies in fast cars?

AMG used to be a company that would take a Mercedes and "finish" it with supercharger, tranny, suspension, etc. Then Mercedes bought them so now AMG still does the same thing, but they're part of Mercedes.

They do stuff like increase the SLK 320 from 6.0 seconds 0-60/215hp/229ft-lbs of torque and make it into the SLK 32 AMG that goes 4.8 0-60/349hp, 332 ft-lbs of torque. In the SLK they add $12k to the pricetag, but a lot of people think it's worth is.

The CLK he ran is 5.0 0-60/342hp/376 ft-lbs of torque... supercharged, of course.

I thought the CLK55 was a 5.5 litre, normally aspirated engine, same as the E-class AMG?

I know the new SL55 is 5.5L supercharged, and its pushing close to 500 hp.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Beware of little old ladies in fast cars?

my friend has an SLK 320 with (I think) 215hp. He ran 3 times at the track and let his kid take 2 runs. They got 3 runs at 15.0 and 2 runs at 15.1 seconds. AMG puts another 135 hp and 100ft-lbs of torque in the same body and only added about 100 lbs...

freakin fast is a good way to put it.

6.0 0-60 for SLK 320
4.8 0-60 for SLK 32 AMG

I had similar experience like that, only difference was old ladyaround 80 driving a dodge neon who did 120mph down a 40mph street (didn't race her @ that point)

she just floored it from the light, of course I took it then I stopped around 55/60mph then like 10 seconds later she flys by me from the other side of the lane

Psychology of 'little old ladies': The most important aspect of driving is their physical positioning in the car, and this includes the position of their foot on the gas pedal. So if they'd spent a majority of their previous driving experience in a Ford Focus and then jumped into a CLK55, they'd probably drive the CLK the same way with the difference being +212hp.

Re: Beware of little old ladies in fast cars?

My friends mom drives a CLK55 and I drove it one time. I must say it hauls @ss from a standstill, but on a highway roll the thing is amazing. You need to learn more about cars my friend. There is no way im going to mess with a CLK55 and think I was gonna win. I think a highly boosted Max would have trouble with one. Anyone see the times of the new SL55 AMG Kompressor? It ran a 12.6@116 in a 4000 lbs car automatic car.

Just reading on canadiandriver.com that the new E55, S55 and CL55 will all enjoy a supercharger to go along with their 5.5L AMG engine.

E55 will be rated at 476 hp, with a similar amount of torque.
S55 and CL55 will be 500 hp.

BMW going to be playing catch-up...

That SL 55 AMG is awesome! I seen it on Motortrend TV and it did the 1/4 mile in the very low 12's. They even had race car legend, Mr.Andretti drive it and he gave 2 thumbs up. To bad it costs about $115,000. Another $20,000-$30,000 and get a Ferrari.

There are bunch around my area too. I haven't seen one driving a Z06, but have seen quite a few driving the regular C5. Also seen one driving a Camaro SS. Most of them probably got the car(Corvette)for an image thing. However, on rare occasion, you will run into one that will actually push the car to its capability.
