I have a 2k3 Max with the dim SES problem and have read all the posts on the subject via a search. Couple of questions....
How long did it take for your dealer to replace the instrument cluster(the described fix)? Did you end up with a bunch of rattles afterwards or not? Anything I should know before I ask my dealer to do this and show the service manager the posts on this subject and that they need to log on to their Nissan tech line?

I had no problems regarding the items you mention, However I DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM!!!
There is no problem with regard to the function of the light and no error codes are thrown from engin malfunction. I just got used to it no I don't even notice. There is an advantage if you lease..your ODO goes back to zero.

 

I too have this problem.. I have a 2k2. I am all set with having the dealer change out the I/P.... Not to mention that the dealer will document this and it could bite you later.. Meaning your mileage starts at 0 again.. If you try to resell and some does like a carfax or something on it, they may think something is fishy.. I would not call it an advantage like buzek said.. Because again it will be documented by nissan and they will add it to your mileage when its time to turn in the lease.. It doesent bother me, so I dont care about have it done... As long as I dont trip any codes, I dont care. I did notice one thing start your car, you will see the very dim light. then turn your headlights on and watch the light. You will see it go away for a couple seconds then come back dim.. Weird...
