Frankencar Catback TIP STYLE: You pick
Dual 3" like HKS no doubt. But like someone mentioned earlier - SOUND should be 1st priority. Expect that people will be installing y-pipes as they become available, and probably want to be able to have a conversation.
Any thoughts on ETA?

Anyone have any pics of this HKS muffler some people are talking about? BTW, I wouldn't want the muffler to have that much of a sound to it. I don't like to wake-up the neighborhood when I drive by.
i think...
that the excessively large exhaust tips (coffee cans, fart cans...) on civics do no justice cause their puny motors can't back it up....
heard of the "Back dat *** up!!" phrase...
When i see a fart can civic go by, i just say "All blow, slow go..."..
The powertechs are pretty nice but they are the limit i'll go if i ever change my exhaust... its gotta be dual tip too..
heard of the "Back dat *** up!!" phrase...

Steve, why not make a poll with the different choices listed? Make sure you include "fart can like on Civics" because it's got my vote.

Let's move past the cosmetics for just a moment. Once you install a Y-pipe, most if not all full catback exhausts are going to be TOO FREAKING LOUD! How do I know? Been there, done that. That's why I reinstalled my OEM rear section. And I'm not alone. One thing's for sure. I wouldn't sell my OEM rear section right away if I were you, djPlayboy. A few weeks of screaming at your passengers to make yourself heard while cruising at freeway speeds may be enough to convince you.
Here's my challenge to you Steve (and to every other catback developer). Come up with a catback/rear section that provides better performance than the OEM catback/rear section but doesn't sound like a jackhammer after you install a Y-pipe. Do that and you'll have my attention regardless of what kind of tip you put on it.

I second that.

y2k-i don't want to make it too quiet because some people buy it for the sound too. i know i wouldn't have gotten one so soon if it didn't add some sound. i don't mind the sound at all i like it but i do't want it to be over bearing or drone at all. i've heard a few people who are gonna get the full thing and just keep the stock muffler only.

The other possibility would be to use a single, relatively quiet muffler and then offer the B-pipe with and without a resonator installed. You'd probably want to position the B-pipe without resonator for those who don't have a Y-pipe and the B-pipe with resonator for those who do. And you could even offer a separate resonator option for those who purchase a Y-pipe after they purchase your B-pipe.
Doing either one would certainly separate you from the crowd of single-option, pre-fab catback providers.
Just a thought.

Did i ever mention getting rid of my OEM rear section???? no i said y pipe test pipe and muffler.... i never said any thing about the rear section. But thanks for looking out for my ears though i know if i went with all straight pipes it would be too too loud.

Ractive Muffler and custom piping $150.00
What ever happened with this? Did the exhaust ever get made? I hope so, cause I'm determined to get into the 13s with having a "sleeper" look and sound (well the frankencar intake takes that away once I gun it).
I have a couple of friends, one with a BMW 330 and another with a 328. Their exhaust when at idle sounds pretty good (stock). It has a nice rumble to it. Especially the 330.

hey Steve, a couple things...one, you gonna have y-pipe for only 2k2+ or you gonna make 1 for 2000s too?...two, i gotta go w/ y2kse on the noise thing...dont get me wrong, when im on surface streets i wanna hear my car be all throaty and loud and rumble and all that good stuff, but my problem is that im about 6 hours away from home at college, and i drive home like once, twice a month and i always take somebody w/ me...i usually cruise at 80-90 mph, i dont wanna have a headache when i get out of the car...i definately wanna be heard, but not something thats gonna make nobody wanna ride home with me....thats why i dont have a y-pipe now, well that and the money, cuz i dont wanna drop 400+ on cattman/stillen..but hopefully if you come out w/ 1 for 2000s ill be able to pick it up

DMBMAXIMA,
I would also be interested if the exhaust was not loud and ofcourse provided a performance increase, in other words trying to get the better of both worlds. Also try and stay away from the DUAL DTM tip. I also have a 93 Se-R with that exhaust and so does a lot of other people around here. Try to make it classy like the dual 3" I personally do not like the square tip.
Just my .02
