holy crap. need serious help guys...

first of all...
my rpm woudn't go past 3k...10 minutes later it would go past 3k...
(i have an auto)
my mph came out all wrong...i know i was definately going faster than 20mph but it read 20mph.
it was extemely slow to gain speed. i wasn't gettin that kick out of my car as i always did. when waiting at a red light, i released the brake and didn't step on the gas, but the car did not want to move forward. it barely moves up. ????????
when i was in reverse, the car did not budge.i kept stepping on the gas but it didn't move until about 5k RPM. when it did move, it peeled out!
holy crap what the hell i wrong with my engine? or my car?
i have no performance mods except exhaust...
no computer chips or anythng like that.
PLEASE HELP ME!

our mass air flow sensors arent well design. and lately a LOT of us here have had ours crap out. there's a TSB on it even, so you should be hopefully be able to get the MAF sensor replaced under warranty. look in the TSB thread, and do a search on MAF sensors. there should be plenty of information.

before you take it to the dealer. put your stock intake back in. even if you only have a k&n panel, replace it with the stock panel filter. it's better to be safe than giving the dealer the excuse of saying an aftermarket air filter caused MAF failure. take a print out of the TSB (can be found in the TSB sticky thread), and assuming that they agree to fix it under warrantee (which they should), it should not cost you anything.

I was in similar situation - check if your ebrake got completely released. It's easy - check temperature of rear rims. In case of stuck caliper one of them will be extremely hot. I got mine frozen once in winter time.

It doesn't sound like a MAF problem to me. Have you ever changed your air filter? What kind of gas do you use? It could be a bad tank of gas. Did the problem start all of a sudden or gradually? There's a chance it may be a problem with your transmission.

A TSB does not = recall, so if he is out of warranty the dealer will charge for the repair.

should be 70 dollars for the sensor...but they might rip u off by saying that u have to get the entire MAF unit....which is 490 something.

Don't panic, take your car to a reputable dealer and they should fix it under the powertrain warranty (unless you have more than 60kmi). Take off all the mods you can to be on the safe side. My guess is your MAF is fine.

And you are satisfied with such a diagnosis? There's a reason your car was throwing codes and if you let someone else repair it, you risk your Nissan warranty. What if your tranny is on the way out?

yes i thought of that as well/...
but i only have 30,000 miles on it..if it does go out...i will lose a lot of respect for my maxima and nissan...that's besides the point..
how much is a new tranny?
seriously guys, if my tranny does blow...woudn't you think my car is a piece of crap considering i did no engine mods and i always took care of my baby with premium gas and oil changes every 2,000 miles. maybe the problem was because of transmission oil and oil chnge...for a monthn i did abuse my car while driving to jersey...but now that my girl dumped me i don't have to drive there for a while. i'm going to take it day by day and see what happens. if you guys want to be updated on my status, feel free to PM me.
well, i'm prod of maxima.org ,members today. you guys really helped me and showed your consideration. thanks for everthing.

glad u got it fixed....good to hear it.

tranny is more like an independant unit....the age of a tranny is based on 1.driving style 2.mods (esp, SC or nitrous) 3.car's load (hauling 700 lb daily will take out ur tranny soon) 4.type of driving (highway vs local, highway is better for the tranny) and 30k its about time for tranny flush.

but I must admit, Nissan's tranny is really weak, esp the auto tranny.
