How fast is Audi TT?

I raced one last week on the highway. I pulled pretty easy on him.

It was the one with two pipes in the back.

Yeah, they have turbos, but they're still pretty weak. Can't expect too much power with small turbos on a 1.8L engine. The standard coupe has 180HP and weighs 3100lbs, the quattro version has 225hp but weighs 3500 lbs.

u raced a TT roadster probably which has a larger turbo and twin intercoolers. They are tested at 225 hp and 207 tq with a 0-60 in low to mid 6's and 1/4's ranging from 14.6-15.3 depending on the drivers.

I know, that guy was probably ****ed.

I started in the back of him, and pulled passed him, by end of my 4th gear I was one car in front. Went to 5th and got another 3 cars on him before I slowed down. He of course continued going.

I smoked one on the Pulaski Skyway(Jersey guys know what I'm talking about)

It was about 2 AM, and I was getting on the skyway and he flies by me, I caught up and rode next to him for a minute or so, and we both took off, and by the end of the skyway, I was too gone.

aren't they faster then that???

i think they do mid 5's 0-60(225 version). and the 1/4 mile has to be faster ..probably mid to low 14's

How do you figure? 225 hp\207 tq hauling 3500 lbs?? It's not going to be that quick.

How do you figure it's a "real" sports car? I consider it a roadster like a BMW Z3 or a Miata, neither of which is considered a "sports car" ala corvette\supra\ferrari.

Heat soak

On top of all this, apparently the 1.8T engine in this application is quite prone to heat soak, at which point the ECU steps in and retards the timing to reduce power.

I remember reading a magazine article where they were running the 225 HP version and after only a few laps the power reduction was quite noticeable to the drivers.

Dunno, seems more of an image car than a serious sports car...

TTs pull fast from a stop AWD + very short gear ratios. Its not got much top end power. Like someone mentioned the turbo retarding steps in and turbo spools lower.

It depends on one's definition of a sports car. I consider the Z3 and Miata true sports cars. They are RWD, 2-door convertibles that have excellent handling. They're not muscle cars or super-cars. They are more about the total driving experience.

hmmm...

met one (tt 225hp version) friday morning on the way to work in the boonies south of sactown.... i was at a stop sign and saw him fly by doing at least 75+ on a 55... he's from around the area cause i've seen him several times already... anyway as soon as he flew by i turned into same direction and started to accerate to see if i can catch up too him... i pretty much reached 120mph when i was about 10 cars behind and had to shut down. there was a car going about 60 ahead of him, plus we were entering franklin with 35 speed limit...
he continued on north at atleast 50 when i headed west towards intersate 5... only wish we were on I-5 by ourselves...

i have one souped up in GT3 but the turbo boost drops as the speed increases and bounces halfways on the boost gage...its maxed out but slow as heck... it's still in the low 14's and high 13's.... i think that power drop is well emulated in GT3... even my toyota vitz can get mid 13's consistently...
