Paint quality

I was washing my Max and noticed a few more rock chips on the front of the hood, its so disappointing. After finishing I decided to give my RV a bath and took note of the condition of its hood and would you believe that RV which is three times as old and has twice the miles as the Max does not have one rock chip in the hood and the RV has been down some awful roads at times where I would hesitate to run the Max. The RV is a Fleetwood class C on a Ford frame. I've aso had a Buick and a Honda with only the fraction of the chips that has accumulated on the Max. I have noticed that the paint on the Max is quite a bit thinner than on my other rigs. I always wondered if the paint robot at the Nissan factory was reprogrammed to delete a coat of paint to save dollars.

I read somewhere that in Japan they can't get rid of the chemicals like we can here so their paint process is a little different. It does suck, your not alone with the paint chips. I had a '96 GMC Jimmy with 75k miles on it, and it had less chips than my car with 7k miles.

I wonder if the Maxes made in the US (2003?) Will have the same paint problems.
