Just got walked to death by a CLK...

have a 2k2 6 speed from a red light... BUT ONLY BECAUSE THE STUPID FRIGGIN SHIFTER WOULDNT GO FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR~!!!! man how dissappointing... guess i was too excited or something...

oh and btw... while racing the CLK i noticed that my RPM's drops form 7K to like 2800 from 1st to 2nd gear... is that normal? am i shifting slower than i should??? MAN I WISH THESE CARS CAME WITH A SHORTER SHIFTER... i wouldn't miss gear half as much

It's a poor craftsman that blames his tools.

Move your seat a little closer to the wheel. You'll not have to reach as far for your shifts, (and you may have better control over the wheel.)

You don't really want to be driving with your arms completely extended to the steering wheel, or having to stretch at all for the clutch.

Go to a dragstrip or road course, and practice, practice, practice.

If the rpms went from 7k to 2800 on the 1-2 shift, I really think you did a 1-4 But that really doesn't make sense either. 7k in first would be about 35 mph which would equal about 2k in 4th But I still don't think it was 2nd you shifted into.

Re: Just got walked to death by a CLK...

missing a gear didn't help, but depending on which CLK it might not have made a difference

320, 215 hp @ 5700 rpm
430, 275 hp @ 5750 rpm
55, 342 hp @ 5500 rpm

which one was it?

I think it was a 2000 model convertable... I doubt it was the 2 powerful ones. We were still neck and neck until I missed 3rd gear then he slowly gained a lead on me... ghey... im still so dissappointed...

ehhhh... maybe it was more like 6k to 3k from 1st to 2nd... that sound better to you?
