More brake dust in rear?

More brake dust in rear?
I've been meaning to ask this one for a while now, but I have noticed that I have to wipe off around three times as much brake dust on my rear wheels as I do from my fronts. This is odd because I have always driven FWD cars and they ALL have had more dust in the front.
Are you guys the same way or am I abnormal? I get a TON of brake dust in the rears. Any ideas?

That is kind of odd. You might have a problem with brake wear or something. The fronts are used more, that's why there is more brake dust in the front. The front brakes a applied first then the rear, if needed. (I think it's something like that)

If what 'greg's2kgle' is correct, what you need to do is stop slamming on the brakes. haha I wouldn't worry about it unless you hear squeeling when you stop or you think it takes longer to stop or something of the sort. Basically, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Maybe your emergency brake needs an adjustment? From what you are saying it seems the rear brakes are engaging before the front brakes, which isn't normal. Are you on original pads?

Im with Green on this one...When I got my car the rear wheels would turn charcoal black. It turned out to be a stuck brake caliper. There is no way you should be getting that much brake dust on your wheels. There is definately something wrong back there.

either ur cruisin around with the E-brake on, which i really doubt u would, u have a caliper problem in which the might be appling too much force (this i very rare, and usually just shortend the pads life down by approx 25% or so) or might be just slammin ur brake like posted too often. what kind of pads do u have anyway? were the rotors resurfaced with the brake job of they are diff pads??

well then this is just wierd, by standard brakes are suposed to have approx 70% of their clamping power up in the front. i checked my pads like 2weeks ago and the rears are just fine, it could probably go til 40K miles,, but the front will have to go around 25K topps. im at 18K miles right now. im thinkin ill just resurface the rotors the first time and when i have to replace them ill just throw on the stillen cross drilled rotors, besides they cost less then the OEM ones. btw has any1 tried ceramic pads yet? ive put a few sets in car and there is no noise at all, also very low to no dust.
