Is a 225-45-18 tire safe for a 18-8.5 wide wheel?

Want the extra sidewall compared to a 40 series tire will the 225-45-18 work on that size wheel?

go wider...at least 235s...even then, your side wall is going to crown..i say go with 245/40/18s..

225 is to narrow for 8.5inch rim. 245z the way to go.

i would also go w/ 245/40/18. it would give side wall of 9.8 cm.

225/45/18 gives 10.1 cm of sidewall...only 3mm more!!! not worth it. plus, 245/40/18 will fit a 8.5" width rim better!

225/45/18 will give you 3mm more if it weren't on a 8.5inch wide rim..if it were on that wide of a rim, it would stretch and crown..less sidewall..

that's true. so basically, russ, don't do it. go for 245/40/18.

on stock suspension, you shouldnt' have rubbing prob's.
