What to do when racing??

Guys quick question. When you want to race a guy of the line and you have an auto what should you do??

Floor it as soon as light turns green or

speed up a bit and then floor it
or any other tips.

reason for this is that Max will spin tires and not go anywhere if i just hit it??

Is it good to be able to spank a IS300. which i did last night, then the kid pulled up to me and is like Damn Bro how much HP do you have?? lol

i was like 255 and I had 3 other people in the car and he had himself, with a rear wheel drive car, is that bad or what

Depending on traction/road/environmental conditions i say ease up then floor it, otherwise you'll just spend your time at the starting line spinning your wheels.

During winter, whenever i floor it i could easily spin a couple of seconds before i go anywhere. Now that it's summer i can hardly chirp the tires - then again, i'm not sure if that has more to do with traction or power loss due to the heat.

I personally would ease it from the start then floor it. IS300s weigh more and have less HP, so its not really a great kill, but a kill nonetheless.

first, never street race cause it's stupid and is looked down upon by any "professional" racer. Street racing is to real racing is to foosball is to soccer.

but, if you're speaking of at a drag strip. power brake it to something like 2500rpm and let it rip at the third amber.

I took on an IS300(auto)...

I have an automatic 4th gen, however. I killed the guy off the line, because we were at a stoplight. I knew the timing of the lights and anticipated when the green came. I was spinning my tires as soon as the light turned green and got a 1/2 car lead instantly.

I raced a 1st gen Altima more recently, and I was really nervous about losing for some reason. I barely had a 1/4 tank of gas, and turned my a/c off. For a better start, I held the brake down with my left foot, and kept my left foot over the gas. When we started, I simultaneously lifted off the brake and hit the gas. Like the others said, I didn't put it down all the way. This was just enough to keep from spinning my tires and I got an awesome start.

When I race, I shift from 1st --> 2nd --> then to D.

I have a 2k max. You can shift 1st --> 2nd --> 3rd --> then to D
