Nitrous or boost harmful with sudden slow down

If you're at WOT and you hit the nitrous or you're boosting in a race (street), but then you have to slow down suddenly, this is bad for the engine I'd assume. I often have to do this because usually if a guy in the lane next to me is speeding up to pass me and get in my lane, I speed up to block him behind the slow car further ahead in his lane. Usually it's close, but I'll slow down because I'm worried the idiot will cut into my lane and not have enough room and kill us both. So I'm wondering, how bad is it if I do this a lot, hit WOT, boost, then slow down suddenly. I'm boosting by the way, not using nitrous (yet).

With Nitrous, it only sprays when you are at WOT. If you arent then it wont spray. It is a safety precaution to make sure you dont spray when there isnt enough fuel.

How did you guess that?? Yeah, I'm from Houston.

What a city. The best we could do for a name for our new footbal team is the "Texans". Wow.

That's what I'm saying, if you hit WOT, then it sprays, then you're suddenly not in WOT and slowing down, but you now have nitrous running through you're car, I'd guess that's bad for the engine. But what do I know?

That's what they say about marijuana for the human body, but not everyone agrees. Most of the folks I know who've smoked are doing better than I am. I followed the straight line and life sux. So I plan to use N2O and damn the consequences! Now answer my question!!

It says "Houston" in your profile

As for the Texans, has it also ocurred to you that their uniforms look eerily similar to Jack-In-The-Box's Carnivores?

With regards to boost, my uneducated guess would be it's no different than going WOT in a race then slowing down to a stop/cruise.

I'm pretty annoyed about the hype over the Texans. People in Houston forget that a few years ago, we lost a team that ended up going to the superbowl just a year (or was it two) after they left us.

When you hit WOT and boost, then you close the throttle, any boost left in the system can cycle back to the turbine and damage it. BOVs and recirculation valves are supposed to help dissipate the boost so it doesn't damage the turbo. With nitrous, if you spray, then shut down, I'm guessing you just have a really potent fuel mix and you'll burn rich, but it won't hurt anything.

No, I didn't need to look at his profile. Houston drivers are unique!

as soon as you lift your foot up from the gas pedal or your finger up from the trigger switch, no more NOS...it's trapped in the line or in the soleinoids..but not in the motor...

oh and..if you plan on using NOS everyday, it's bad for your engine..but if you use it 'wisely', then it's actually good for your engine..it cleans out the carbon deposits from your cylinders, pistons and injectors.. you should see a piston pulled out from an engine that's been shooting NOS for a while...it's like brand new!

I haven't seen any Maximas in Houston that look that good! If you're ever on Westheimer, look for a black 2000 Maxima. We can race!

Ok good to know. I don't plan on using it all the time, only in race situations, and I don't race that often. I'm definitely not getting any more power until I upgrade my suspension and tires. As it is, when I boost, I get nervous that I'm going to lose control of the car.

I don't go out much anymore and probably won't for awhile. My car has three piece wheels I sold the 5ZR, the new wheels are still a five star just a three piece wheel in silver not hyperblack.

I'm in Houston too, judging from where i came from the drivers here are tame.

Drivers are okay, but when it comes to the road conditions...

This sounds a lot like the "can of beer a day, keeps the doctor away" study the scientists have been lauding recently.

Sorry Irvine78 .

you don't squeeze when you shift...unless you want to kiss your motor good bye...you let up, shift, and then squeeze again.

oh well, if you already have a supercharger, you'll be using a very small jet anywayz..

I want to be a pioneer and go with a large jet . If my engine goes BOOM, good excuse to get a Z.
