Long trip on new car?

Planing to have a long term trip(5+ hrs drive) during this coming weekend, just wondering is it okay for my new car(700+ miles)? Is there anything I should do before or after the trip?
Just wanna make the best effort to baby my new ride...

Thanks!

The suggested break-in period is 1000 miles, but people say otherwise. Try to vary your speed as opposed to staying at a constant one.

Suggestion is of course, Vary speed, but also, don't exceed 70mph. On my manual, they told me not to exceed a certain RPM so if you've got a stick or auto, that makes a difference, supposedly.

One more thing, bring some coffee, can't baby a car you total if you sleep at the wheel. Have a safe trip!

try not to use cruise control that way you won't be stuck in the same RPM band for too long, it's advisable that you let the rpms fluctuate once in a while. u'll find that alot of us have different break in procedures and the end results turn out to be the same. from that i'm guestimating that break in isn't very very important. just dont' add in synthetic oil or any fuel additives such as duralube, prolong, slick 50 and stuff. those additives will prevetn your car from breaking in.

I even went up a 5 percent grade hill climb on I-5 (those cali people know what i'm talkin about)... not a whine from the motor... and i was in 5th the whole acsent... averaged 75mph when i stopped by in fresno to show my parents my new baby... As with any trip, make sure fluid levels and tire pressures are where they should be.

One more thing, there have been a number of posts mentioning a possible cause of warped rotors is overtightened lug nuts. You may want to check the torque of the nuts and adjust accordingly.

700 miles already... No worries

If you have been city driving for those miles and will be doing so today and tomarrow you should be closer to 800 by the time you leave. I just wouldn't fill up before you leave so you'll have to stop sooner, over 1k miles, and this will give you a chance to give the car a once over. Just do the lug nut thing and check the tire pressures while thier cold before you leave. I would bump the psi up to 35 all around for a smooth ride and better mileage. Don't worry about the speed thing you can do 80+ in 6th at 3k rpms.
Have a good holiday weekend and enjoy your new car. When you get back you'll be ready for synthetic oil and Redline synthetic gear oil for the tranny.

I would make sure you use the best gas possible as well. You don't need a knocking this early on.
