Kevin(g), aka y2kevse:

How much do you want for your tranny cooler? Will it work on a 2002 auto tranny? Finally, how difficult is it to install? I did my own RSB and FSTB, along with my bulbs/corners/sills etc... But I left the springs to an installer. That should give you some idea of the range of my installtion expertise, not great but I am not a total dummy. What do you want for it and if it is 2k2 compatible, should I be able to self-install? reply here or PM me. Thanks!

You need to read my sig... K-e-v-i-n... no g. Hehehe

Sorry, but someone already has dibs on the whole tranny package (VB, cooler, TCM, solenoids, and maybe even the tranny). Yes, the cooler I have will work on your 2002. If you have patient and don't mind getting a few scrapes and cuts, the installation isn't difficult at all.

If you can jack the car up, place the cooler and tie it down with the zip ties they include (not sure what the correct term is for them), and reroute tranny hoses, then this can be done by you. Installation difficulty can be compared to your RSB install.

You can pick up a cooler from PepBoys for about $45.

...Thanks for the tips. Now next series of dumb newbie's questions:

1) What is the major benefit of a tranny cooler on a non-boosted auto like mine?

2) Is there a good write-up somewhere in the how-tos on this install?

3) Are these coolers 'universal' to most autos or should I be looking for a specific kind at Pep Boys to fit the Max???

You're welcome.

1) A tranny cooler would benefit an auto with its valvebody recalibrated. Increased line pressure causes more heat, which kills the tranny. A cooler will fix that problem.

2) http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=67256

3) If you want a Hayden cooler, go with model 404. IMO, that's a perfect size for our cars.

Thanks alot. I forgot to ask if you could give me the dimensions of it. I can so build this at work. At my work we build heat transfer coils. Everything from the refrigeration coils in supermarkets the ones that are in the frozen food sections to coils for the space shuttle (those are under very high standards. We also build coils for nuclear power plants in california. Thanks again for you help.

No problem. I'll take measurements when I'm installing it tomorrow.
