Spray it down with Simple Green and hose. Just don't overdo it.

Try not to spray Simple Green on there when it is hot. It drys and leaves a film, especially if you have a FSTB. Wash the rest of the car first and then do the engine after it cools down. If you have an aftermarket intake, cover the filter with a plastic bag. Make sure you don't forget to take it off. Other than that, you are good to go.

VERY good point. Make sure your engine is COMPLETELY cool. I made a big mess by not waiting before.

A claybar? On my engine? no...

I claybarred my entire exterior. Works wonders. Takes about 4 hours to claybar and wax completely.

Simple Green is a general cleaning degreaser. You can buy a jug at WalMart for $6.

Spraying the battery will not hurt it in the slightest. Just don't get overzealous.

Oh, and stay away from Castrol Super Clean. That crap ripped the paint off of my front grill. What a nightmare that was repainting it.....

Yup. Wal Mart. $15. Mine wore out after two uses though..... I need a new one already because it's really dirty.

You used the clay bar two times? Man...I only got one use. Well maybe I could have used it again but I wasn't about to risk it. Much better off spending $15 more than creating swirl marks on your car. You only really need to use it about every 6 months anyways.
