Nissan Radio

Is there a difference between the Bose Headunit and the Non Bose headunit? I have looked at pics of them both and they are exactly the same. Anybody know the answer to this one? I am trying to sell my radio on Ebay and everyone keeps asking that question.

Big difference. The Bose head unit is a preamp. The amplifiers are in the individual speakers. The stock radio has the amps built into the head unit. There should be a Bose logo on the door of the tape unit also.

well, kinda.. Bose actually has a single amp on the back deck now, not in the speakers like the 4G's

Are they the same speakers or different ones? I also heard that the Bose system has a sub behind the rear seats, its like an 8 or something like that. Which amp is back there?

The regular head unit has a lot less wattage, plus the stock speakers suck. there is a big difference in sound quality. I have a stock too and I just put 2 12' in the trunk you cant even hear the stock speakers anymore, I need new tweeters cause the stock ones are terrible.

:clears throat: You may want to change the FADE more to the front and turn the bass on the deck ALL THE WAY DOWN if your using the stock deck also that way just the subs make the bass, not those stock speakers.

The base system has 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. The fronts are in the doors (with the tweeters on the A pillars). The rears are in the rear doors. The amp is built into the head unit (which makes the head unit amplified).

The Bose system has 6 speakers, 2 tweeters, and 1 sub. The fronts are in the doors (with the tweeters on the A pillars). The rears are in the rear doors and the rear decking. The sub is mounted to the rear decking. The amp is mounted on the underside of the rear decking. The head unit is not amplified.

This information is for the 2002+

yeah, Bose is premium Clarion. Non-Bose is regular Clarion. IMHO, The Altima peeps have it better, their headunits are OEM from Panasonic.
