**350Z Dead Pedal PICS**INSTALLED****

Alright, it's the first time I've used this camera and it SUCKS! So don't mind the purple dashmat and dirty floor mats. Alright, the floor mats are slightly dingy, but NOT that bad!!!! Hehe.

I got the dead pedal from Dave Burnette for around $15. If you don't know who DAVEB is then READ THE PARTS LIST STICKY. I hear they're on backorder though.

The install is NOT real easy, but it's pretty straight forward. I'll post some BASIC steps of what I did in the How-To's. There is probably a much better way to do this, but I didn't have much time(~25mins.).

Here is the link to a few more pics: http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...=143972&page=8

Ummm, I think dash covers are pretty common in ultra dry, seriously hot regions. I suspect thats why he has it.

Looks good, only thing I got a problem with is that it seems to be like 1" higher now cause of the black plastic.

Ice, no way to remove it? Or does that have to remain there?

Dixit - I have mine with me today. I will show it to you. The plastic has to remain there somewhat as it has the black dots molded into it. If you remove the plastic it will take them out, plus the plate is uneven.

ICE - did you just take out the screws that were on it and drill through to the stock plate them screw new screws into that? I think that is what you did, just checkin. It looks like a clean job.

SterlingMist00 Thanks.

ms.thicknes Thanks.

Y2KevSE hehe. You know your going to copy my ****, so your nice new AE shifter matches everything.

dblrr900 Yes, you remove the SUPER fragile aluminum plate ASAP and put it out of the way or else it's bound to get screwed(pun intended) up. Yes, I left the stock screws in place and just drilled new ones underneath the aluminum plate where they can't be seen.

cobymoby Easy, I just don't drive it! Hehe. I just rolled 15K and I bought it about 2-days before 01/01/01.

BigDogJonx It's not probably 1" higher, but maybe close. It's not noticeable. You can't remove it, because of 2-reasons. 1)The aluminum plate is so thin a flimsy, I would be bent to hell as soon as you put your foot on it. 2)It looks better, because you get the little gripper dots poking through than the carpet beneath. I did try that though.

Triple8Sol Thanks! I wouldn't count on too much help, but I'll give the basics. Don't count on anymore pics, since it's installed and I'm NOT going to hassle with uninstalling/reinstalling. It's pretty straight forward though.

CharlieNewbieMax Thanks. Hehe, "clean as hell".

TimW Thanks Tim.

95emeraldgxe Yeah, the PURPLE dash mat really turns on the women though. That cameras' color was WACK! It's DEFINITELY charcoal colored. Thanks. BTW, the pedal matches EXACTLY. Not nicely, EXACTLY. That's why I've been hounding DaveB for months now on it. "Gotta have it!"

[maxi-overdose] Thanks. Yes, if you look at the website link you'll see the remains of what I cut away.

the dash mats----what's the deal with those? I was visiting CA this January and it seemed like EVERY car had those dash mats. Haven't seen a single car in the dc metro area with them.

someone posted that they're used in hot dry areas...this somehow protect the dash?

They are the AE(Aniversary Edition) 2001 Maxima pedals.

I get EVERYTHING OEM from Dave Burnette(800-251-7278).

There is really no easy way to install this thing. I just finished putting mine in. Took the dremel and it seems to fit aight. I am going to have to go play with it some more.

THEEE toughest thing is cutting this thing off. Once it is cut I recommend just taking the four corner screws out and putting in 4 1.5" zinc metal screws in their place. Just put the plate where you want it and go to it.

I tried to do it the other way and totally didn't like the setup. I like how I did it better, and this thing ain't movin.

Man..what a PITA!! At First I did all this with the dremel and the exacto knife, then I see you guys were all using hacksaws, so I went back, took it apart and put it back the way it should be. If you ever thought the AE pedals were hard, forget doing this one. lol This was worthwhile, but just a pain. Make sure you have the time and energy to do it. Don't be like me and do it after a 10 hr work day..lol I am sure there is a better way as well, but this way works for me.

Mine has been on since Thursday night. I did it after work. I cut the back off on Tuesday night, but didnt have time to install it. Looking back now... if you get the back cut off, just walk out with 4 zinc screws and stick it where you want it and drill them in. It should take less than 2 minutes to install. I swear if you see mine you will see no difference and spend way less time than those of us that tried the other way.

I also tried a hack saw, but that thing was taking too long. I went and got my old school wood saw and cut that junk right off in like 30 seconds. Then took a bit of sand paper and smoothed it up. Made sure it was even and I was done.

I hope the rest of you do the easier ways.

BTW, it looks MUCH better in person than the pics, since it's actually charcoal colored.
